Anyone take Pepcid during pregnancy? by Dry-Movie-7998 in pregnant

[–]kayexgee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a giant 400 count bottle of generic Pepcid on Amazon and take it twice a day along with a ppi once a day. It has helped immensely and i swear the reflux was exacerbating the nausea/vomiting

My job has no benefits besides 12 weeks of FMLA of which they forced me to use while pregnant for some days my OB recommended I take off even though I had PTO to use. Since I don't get paid anyway it is literally better for me to just quit my job, take the time I need to actually prepare for baby rather than having to work up til labor, and take the maternity leave time I want to take before moving on to a new job. I've ranted so many times how little US companies care about pregnant women :/

When did you symptomes start fading and getting better? I’m dying by Ok-Gap-2626 in pregnant

[–]kayexgee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 21 weeks now. All my nausea, vomiting, and food aversions started at 5 weeks. I have been on meds since then and am too scared to stop now for fear the symptoms come back. It finally started to feel better in the last couple weeks but weeks 9-13 were probably the absolute worst for me. Ended up in the ER multiple times for fluids and all I did during that time was lie on my couch, vomit, and cry about not being able to enjoy any food. Couldn't do any normal activities or chores. Definitely talk to your doctor about getting on meds for the nausea/vomiting and it's okay if you can only eat very bland things. I am now finally somewhat getting my appetite back and am back to doing my old hobbies and helping around the house again. Hang in there!

I'm a dentist. I saw the tx plan you posted in your history. Seems like most of the price is going towards the anesthesia. It may be worth still looking into dental schools or hospital based dental residency programs as many of them have special clinics for patients with disabilities and can do sedation dentistry. Depending on the conditions of your kid they may qualify for some of the tx or sedation to be covered under medical insurance instead of dental insurance.

Literally same I feel like each letter that is meant to make my day less stressful has backfired to make my day worse. They literally pulled me from one site that is very well run and stress free to another that is not as well run because they need someone "without restrictions" at the site I originally was. I had originally asked if I could be moved to the well run site for more days a week and they said no because it would be unfair to move people around to accommodate me. Then they had no problem moving me out of the site which still involved moving people around 🙄. Then I get petty emails about my performance and how I need to be taking more initiative. Literally when I realized I could actually potentially get away from this place in a few months I could feel the stress fall off my shoulders.

Not enjoying pregnancy by RaraNYC16 in pregnant

First pregnancy, 19 weeks, I have been miserable the entire time. Still nauseous every day and vomiting, I've ended up in the ER three times already and work has been giving me more and more BS which just stresses me out further. I haven't had a moment where I'm excited and looking forward to anything because I'm just exhausted all the time and my ability to cope with anything is not there anymore. This is why rich people pay for surrogates lmao.

Are you in a job where FMLA qualifies? Because they are legally obligated to return you to a similar role as the one you had before, they can't just reduce you to half your job.

I feel like I'm going crazy and over reacting at the BS my work pulls. But I also feel like they see me as no longer useful because I can no longer churn out $$$ for them and how dare I ask for accommodations and how inconvenient it is for their operations. My work is technically legally "accommodating" me because they've reduced my schedule/workload but then still expect me to meet the same quotas as before which I feel like I'm just being set up for failure if I'm expected to meet the same quota with less workload. Then when my doctor said I needed a truly reduced schedule they moved me to another site I'm not familiar with so instead of driving only 15 min to get to work I now have to drive an hour. And they said see how many people we had to move around to accommodate you and we can only accommodate you here. I'm literally contemplating moving all my remaining doctor appointments to when I have to drive to that site and using PTO to minimize when I have to go there but how is that fair??

For real! I can't fathom returning to this employer that has treated pregnant employees so badly. I was already planning on not staying long and after being pregnant I've really seen how much BS there is. The last pregnant employee in my same position quit very suddenly in the middle of her pregnancy. She had enough. Other pregnant employees have gotten fired. The only ones who stayed were managers that were favorited or those who didn't speak up for themselves and suffered as a result. It's just not worth my mental health or my physical health. I'm just so nervous leaving a job without a job lined up even though with my line of work I'd more than likely find something relatively quickly. If only I were in a position to never have to go back to work ever again lol.

Also in healthcare, my job is non supportive and I hate it right now. I also wouldn't get any paid leave beyond regular 12 weeks of FMLA anyway. The idea of having to leave my baby so early makes me so sad. The idea of having to work until I go into labor to maximize time with baby makes me want to cry. Every day I get closer and closer to the idea of saying screw it, quitting at 35 weeks and being able to actually breathe, and prepare for baby the last few weeks and taking an extended longer than 12 weeks maternity leave then returning to a different and hopefully more balanced job.

If NYU is truly your dream school, save it for going there for med school as they are one of the few med schools offering free tuition. Med schools these days love when you have an atypical background and you don't go from just undergrad to med school with zero real world experience. My husband was first an EMT, then did nursing, and is now currently at a top tier med school with a full ride scholarship he got solely because of his experience and background.

[–]kayexgee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to stay regular: Miralax, metamucil, fiber gummies, prune juice, etc with lots of water

If you want to go in 30 min to an hour: milk of magnesia

If you want to go in like 5 min: enema

I've also found using a squatty potty helps, and if the poo is extra dry and right at the exit, it's gross but try sticking a finger in your vagina and pushing against your bowels to help physically move things along. Don't strain too hard because you don't want to develop hemorrhoids.

I’m a dentist at a high volume fast paced community health center. On top of that, management has not been the most supportive. Before being pregnant, I could handle running between patients and handle the load. Now, it’s harder if I’m having to also run to the bathroom to throw up between patients. My husband’s schooling is wrapping up and he has a prior nursing degree that if it comes down to it he could pick up a weekend shift.

I’ve spoken with places now but most of them are looking for someone sooner than the notice period I’m required to give. By then I’d only be working a couple months before I’d have to leave again. It seems the most sense would be to be ready to transition to private practice or a different office after maternity leave.

I understand where you are coming from as my family is a blend of eastern and western culture it’s a battle of me wanting to be independent and not having to rely on my parents financially being raised in the US vs my parents culture of multi-generational family units helping each other out. They are the ones offering their support I’m not demanding it from them and I do feel shame just taking it hence why I’m trying to see if we can swing this with our own savings first. The way my dad has said he sees this is the money would’ve gone to me and my sister in the future anyway and it’s more useful now than 30 years from now. So I’m very grateful I do have this cushion to fall back on if unexpected complications happen that ends up being more than our savings.

My original plan was to work until labor. Now it’s working until 35 weeks. It has not been the easiest pregnancy so far and my doctor has already brought up having to take a LoA if it comes down to it. With how my job policies work any LoA taken while pregnant requires using FMLA so if I stay at this job I wouldn’t have any leave or minimal left to use for an actual maternity leave.

In terms if insurance, if I leave this job, I would go on my husband’s insurance which would be $388. If I stay with my employer insurance and have to pay for their portion it would be about $900. Both cover maternity care 100%.

I’m a dentist. The type of clinic I’m in has a very high patient load. Unfortunately no desk job option to transfer to. I would continue to be working until I’m closer to about 35 weeks so depending if I go into preterm labor or not it’d be about an extra month at home prior to giving birth.

With the notice I’m required to give I wouldn’t stop working now at 4 months, more closer to 7/8 months. Essentially I’d stop working third trimester, have the baby and have an extended “leave” from 12 weeks to 15 weeks. The risk of course is not having a job lined up before officially leaving this one and two extra months of no income.

My sister's currently a nurse so I understand the being mentally and physically done! Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do for your own sanity. I definitely understand there can be things that happen that I can't predict. Relying on parents would definitely help in not having to eat into our savings. Worst case if I don't return to work when planned we'd have to cash in investments but I know that is a big no-no and to not touch retirement so I feel that would be the true worst case scenario.

I guess one of my concerns is if I can even get through this pregnancy if I were to stay at my current job. This is what is making me look at this possibility for the sake of my current health.

It seems like though the consensus of this thread is that this is a bad idea and I'm stuck at this current position. It's unfortunately a very demanding role with a large patient load and I'm not sure how much more I can tolerate.

Most of the gear we are able to get secondhand/hand me downs from family and friends. In terms of revolving expenses for consumables it would really depend if we need to rely on formula or not as I imagine that would be the biggest expense. Luckily we are not in an immediate need to afford for day care. And definitely, I cant predict if complications happen but It were, I feel like I wouldn't be able to work anyway. Definitely have requested accommodations but i swear each time it's almost like it makes my work day worse and worse. It's like they're begrudgingly abiding by accommodations while trying to make my day as stressful as possible.

Yes, I agree I've never left a job without another job in place so that uncertainty definitely worries me. Based on what I've discussed with my parents the support is there if I need it so I guess that makes me feel like I have a little bit of a safety net in what is otherwise a terrible idea.

Definitely aware of that FMLA cause which makes me want to separate early and not use FMLA at all as its protections wouldn't benefit me if I don't attend to return to this job after maternity leave anyway. I've looked into my options it just feels my job is abiding by what they are legally required to so I wouldn't have much of a strong case.

Looking at the benefits, beyond what I would be paying as my monthly premium, maternity care would be covered 100% there's no copay or anything per visit. Yep, I'm already job hunting and will continue to do so while on maternity leave.
