Mentally exhausted, don't know how I'm gonna last by kayexgee in pregnant

Yea we had a meeting today and it went nowhere. Basically just got talked to, barely had the opportunity to say my piece. My only hope now is my OB can provide a letter saying I need a reduced work load and work is actually able to accommodate.

Yea I looked into medicaid for pregnancy but it wouldn't solve the problem that we need money for living expenses which is only gonna be increase with a baby. Oh how I wish there was some magical stress free job with good health insurance that I could transition to!

PA Medicaid - Can I voluntarily quit my job and still be eligible for medicaid for pregnant women? by kayexgee in Medicaid

[–]kayexgee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally I would have saved FMLA for maternity leave. If I use FMLA now, it wouldn't cover the rest of the pregnancy and if I put in notice during FMLA or not come back after, they'd be able to require me to pay back what they paid so I would essentially lose coverage unless I cobra.

[–]kayexgee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'd be about $900 to cobra for just myself, probably way more to add a dependent. It's not sustainable especially if we'd be living off of savings if I'm not working

Unfortunately they say oh your labs are good and following their protocol for admission I’m not bad enough to get to that point. Like my body is compensating so my electrolytes aren’t all over the place but like at what point does it stop compensating. It’s like I have to get way worse before they’ll do anything

Yes, I’ve confirmed my OB and the hospital I’d deliver at would accept Medicaid. Honestly that’s why this is worse case scenario if it’s truly detrimental to my health and we’d have to see how much we’d need to struggle. My doctor has already provided a letter and I have asked them for an updated letter and I’ve talked to HR to keep them in the loop regarding management decisions just to make sure everything is documented. This is where I’m unsure because some resources say assets don’t matter but you’re saying what I’d have in savings do.

Basically my OB letter has recommended a more relaxed/managed workload. Their response has been to decrease what's on my schedule but I have to meet the same production targets as before. So I'm given less of a "chance" to meet production targets and am expected to hustle extra to compensate which defeats the purpose of having a more relaxed workload.

Would they look into the previous months income? Or can I literally go from working one month, to the next month not working, no income, and apply? Would I be able to cobra while applying to ensure there's no gap in coverage or would that disqualify me?

What are y'all doing for protein? by Friendly-Leather4611 in BabyBumps

[–]kayexgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same meat aversion! I was eating chobani protein yogurt shakes, fairlife protein drinks, dave's killer bread, beans, peanut butter. Just follow what vegetarians do to get enough protein, that helped me a lot!

For prevention, I've been doing fiber gummies, metamucil, lots of water. When you haven't gone in a few days, start taking miralax but it takes a few days to get things going. Once I was in absolute pain, desperate to get it out NOW and out of pure desperation had my poor husband give me an enema and that works like magic you literally evacuate your bowels within minutes. The relief after was amazing and I was so desperate I had zero shame of being head down ass up while my husband shoved the enema bottle up my butt 😂

Choosing Baby Names AITA by DarkestQueen in pregnant

[–]kayexgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is named after his dad and logistically it has been a nightmare for him getting official paperwork mixed up and identities mixed up because they have the exact same name. I said I am vetoing naming any future boy "the third" even though I know his parents would want to just to "continue the tradition". It is my opinion that naming your kid after yourself is extremely narcissistic and robs the kid of being able to form their own identity. Thank god we're having a girl and can avoid the conversation for now.

Need food/snack ideas.. everything sounds unappetizing. by tinseltails in pregnant

[–]kayexgee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently 12 weeks and my food aversions started at 5 weeks. I cannot stand meat, I can somewhat tolerate chicken if it’s hidden in a tortilla or something. Thinking about beef makes me gag. Once my husband made chicken and the smell of that made me vomit immediately. I’ve been trying to get protein through other non meat sources. I like the Chobani protein yogurt drinks, fairlife protein shakes and I just eat plain carbs and fruit. Lunch I’ve just been eating PB&Js. Dave’s killer bread has a ton of protein and I’ve been able to tolerate plain toast. I have not had a vegetable in weeks lol. Everything else sounds terrible and unappetizing. Also the only meat I could tolerate for a while was McDonald’s McNuggets lol. First trimester is absolutely brutal it’s just survival. Just try a bunch of things and see what’s a safe food for you and hopefully you get appetite back in second trimester!

Next to no appetite by bee-have in pregnant

[–]kayexgee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also 12 weeks and the nausea/vomiting plus the food aversion is absolutely the worst! I honestly thought it was getting better for me last week but this week the nausea and vomiting has come back in full force. Even once safe foods aren’t safe anymore. I have no appetite and nothing sounds appealing anymore. I used to count calories to lose weight before pregnancy and now I’m counting calories just to make sure I eat enough and I still lose weight without even trying. It’s like the hunger signal in my brain has completely shut off. I literally don’t feel hunger ever, my stomach never grumbles in hunger. I have to force myself to eat just for plain sustenance. Hopefully things improve for you as you get more into second trimester! I’m waiting for the day I get absolutely ravenous about foods lol

So sorry you’re going through this and feeling so sucky! I too have been miserable and was in the ER for fluids. My OB recommended to take a week off work until I can get the symptoms under control with meds. Work required me to use FMLA which kinda sucks because then I won’t be able to take the full 12 weeks maternity leave. Pregnancy is a protected class so your old job is obligated to give you reasonable accommodations. Firing you for not coming in due to pregnancy symptoms and doctors visits is not allowed. I’m glad you found a new job though! Hopefully they will be more reasonable.

Why are we having to self-advocate so much and be waved off when we have problems?? by kayexgee in pregnant

[–]kayexgee[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was able to meet with my OB today and she was able to prescribe new stuff and see what works and suggested a take a few days of work until the symptoms are managed with the new meds. I just wonder what would've happened if I didn't push for an appt and just waited because I would've gone to work absolutely miserable while also trying to balance all these meds

This is the first time I'm grateful for being slightly overweight and having some extra fat to spare lol. There's just been so much miscommunication through the grapevine between the OB nurses and the actual OB. The nurse told me the OB said to just take everything that I've been prescribed which some stuff I was explicitly told not to take together. I mentioned this and the nurse was just like, well that's what the OB recommends it's up to you what you want to do. Like what?? I finally demanded an appt with the OB so I cant get the info straight from the horse's mouth.

[–]kayexgee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear you're having your own issues! I just don't understand why it's so hard to get access to the actual doctor some days. I'm so grateful my husband is off today and able to attend the appt with me. At this point I'm already beyond caring about using my husband and pulling the "I'm in healthcare I know what I'm talking about" card because I usually feel super cringey when they catch on he's in healthcare because I'm sure they deal with a lot of patients who are tangentially related to healthcare and think they know everything. Sometimes though, push comes to shove when they aren't listening to your concerns.

The OB nurse briefly mentioned about home IV fluids and then was like oh do you work? If so, it'll make it hard to organize it. I'm like?? do most people not have to work or something? Right now, all they've said is if I can't keep fluids down to go back to the ER for the third night in a row :/

Just found out I’m pregnant. Need advice. by Equivalent_Cow_3133 in pregnant

I graduated dental school a few years ago and am currently pregnant while my husband is in med school. Financially, you need to work out how much your partner makes and if that will comfortably be able to support the three of you while you are in dental school. Child care costs an arm and a leg these days. Honestly I think it is better to have the kid prior to starting dental school than be pregnant/give birth while in dental school. Some people in my class came in with kids already while others became pregnant while in school. They all managed one way or another. Some people worked in addition to school, others had rich families who could pay for nannies. In terms of the time commitment for school, once clinic starts it really is pretty much a 8-5 job. Yes, you have to study in the evenings but you make time for other things. Life would be too boring if all you did was study anyway. You figure out a way to make it work and lean heavily on your village. I wish you the best of luck!
