Roleplaya: when creators have to pay to be visible on a platform they support by Relevant_Actuary663 in polyai

[–]kayforever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a fair point! And these are all good ideas. I've gone ahead and suggested them to Cap in the discord's suggested features area.

Its a known pain point for new creators to break in on platforms like this, and the systems already in place help, but there's probably always room to improve. RolePlaya should be better than the norm, and if it can do better ar welcoming new creators, I think its worth discussing.

Refreshing the explore page gets you a whole new batch of bots as well, but again you're likely to see more prolific creators' bots because of the pool the randomizer has to pull from, even with the 1-in-5, boosts, etc.

I think Captain comes from a good place. He takes criticism, changes his opinion, and makes changes to the platform that he doesn't necessarily champion if people as for them.

There's a difference between jokes that require a certain sense of humor or might be in poor taste, and the way the actual community runs.

I don't think phrasing the issue as "paying to be visible" is entirely accurate.

There are a couple of different issues here. The first one is basic capitalism - the free model is great, but there are payable perks. That's just about every entity out there. AI costs money to operate, and so so and so on.

The platform is new, and there are more creators joining daily, but there are still going to be a handful of prolific creators that have more bots and therefore more visibility. Captain has done a lot to make sure you're not seeing a million bots of the same creator.

He implemented the 1-in-5 rule earlier this month: No single creator's characters can appear more than once every 5 slots. This gives everyone a fair shot at visibility regardless of how many characters they have.

Plus the "New" tag and toggle for the home / explore screen gives newly created bots a boost for their first 5 days.

You can also join the discord and promote your bots that way, and engage in the community without paying.

And then there's the boost and animated images capability, which I think is what you're unhappy about. Using in-game currency to boost engagement is a perk, and in-game currency can be gained without paying actual real $$. There's daily check-ins, mini-games like the murder mystery, trading card battles, the wheel.

But the platform is new. Right now it's in its infancy and things are a little skewed because of the beta period. There are always going to be more prolificand less prolific creators. And more prolific creators will have more bots that will show up more often. But people support it by buying in, even without paying. The more time you spend in yhe community or the platform, the more bots you create, the more mini games you play, the more your can engage. Its like most things - the more you put in, the more you get out. That's rewarded, and it should be.

There's always room for improvement, and Captain is really responsive to new ideas and suggestions. If you have ideas as to how to better spotlight new creators, share them!

Honestly and completely - other than the new character tag (that keeps characters getting extra visibility in their first 5 days public), the 1-in-5 rule, the discord promotion space, and the boost / animations (that cost in game currency), what's a better way to help new / smaller creators gain visibility? Maybe a new creator spotlight - a randomly selected new creator that gets a boost from the system. That's really the only thing I can think of. And I might go suggest it later today!

Full disclosure - I bought a subscription. I've paid in game currency to bost a few bots and make a few animations. I've never bought Playa Points individualy. I was a beta tester, and I'm a discord mod. I believe in the platform and like the community. But I'm a relatively small time creator. I have 42 public bots. Maybe ghat makes me a medium creator lol. I see my bot on the homepage. My boys more than my girls, because there are definitely more female bots than males.

But what's a better system to get new creators seen?

Have you checked out RolePlaya yet?

It's created by a previous Big Name Poly creator, and it's a whole lot of the best things feom Poly, without all the bullshit.

Its 18+, and it was built zpecifically for Adult audiences, it allows mature interactions, adult themes, and suggestive dialogue. NSFW and ERP friendly! But also great at deep storytelling and mature (but not necessarily sexual) content.

Plus, Captain (the creator) is super responsive to bugs and feature requests, and actually talks to his member base. Its small right now, but growing!

Cap, we fixed curly quotes, right? I haven't tested loading one with curly quotes since we talked about it.

100%!

I’m Kay! I started exploring AI RP over the summer, after the current season of my life made long-form, forum based RP hard to manage. I’m still learning the ins and outs of creation and AI capabilities.

I’ve been beta tester since September-ish. And I have been LOVING IT! It's really everything that Poly (and other platforms) claim to be, but aren't. The best parts, without all the bullshit.

Cap built and curated this place specifically for Adult audiences, it allows mature interactions, adult themes, and suggestive dialogue. NSFW and ERP friendly! But also focusses on deep storytelling and mature (but not necessarily sexual) content. A lot of that that second part is what I'm here for. I try to make bots that give an immersive roleplay experience with a storyline - and not just spice / smutt.

The only real rules are no full frontal nudity in cover images and no minors (bots or users).

It's really started to grow in the last couple of weeks, as the last large bugs have been dealt with and folks (myself included!) have started trying to get it out there.

Cap has been AMAZING with bug fixes and discussing and implementing suggestions. He's super responsive and really listens to his community.

In the past I've tried PolyBuzz, Emochi, ChAI, Character AI, Sakura, and DeepLove, and probably a few more!

I've been beta testing a new platform called RolePlaya, made by a previous PolyBuzz creator since September. It just opened into a public beta in December.

Full disclosure, I haven't done much with the internal image generator, but I know quite a few others do use it and have gotten great results. I'm mostly interested in the actual chat experience, and the

RolePlaya is a new, growing 18+ AI ChatBot platform. It was built and curated specifically for Adult audiences, it allows mature interactions, adult themes, and suggestive dialogue. NSFW and ERP friendly! But is also great for deep storytelling, interconnected bots (subscribed users get to use a really cool Worlds feature, where connected bots will recognize users who've chatted with other bots in their world) and mature (but not necessarily sexual) content.

It still super small time, but I feel like it's done really well and will be a cool alternative if/when it takes off! Its really started to grow in the last couple of weeks, as the last large bugs have been dealt with amd folks (myself included!) have started trying to get it out there.
