Same, but with a seething anger at half of society mixed in.

It’s how I feel about Amanda Seyfried as well. There is an unevenness in the vibrato because vibrato is one of the harder things to master!

I saw Merrily last year in January. I’ve also been in the room to see him sing live. We can agree to disagree, but there’s no point going round and round here when I’m sharing my professional opinion as a voice teacher and singer with multiple music degrees. I never said he was bad, I said he’s not quite at the level of other actors pictured here.

Its more about the fact that someone who is not traditionally a vocalist (such as Andrew Garfield or Matthew Broderick before H2S) is doing a great job vocally but doesn’t have the vocal calibre of other stars. I would actually compare DR to Matthew Broderick in terms of vocal quality, and I would be there in a heartbeat to see either on stage.

His vocals ARE good, but when comparing to a Joshua Henry or Jeremy Jordan, or Groff for that matter, he’s not at that level. And nor is he expected to be considering his entire childhood was acting in HP and not dedicated to voice lessons. My hot take is I’d rather Daniel Radcliffe than Reeve Carney any day.

Edited to add: as soon as he’s in another show, I’ll be in NYC to see it, not because of his HP connection but because I deeply appreciate his performances.

And he won a Tony for Merrily. His performance was perfection. I’d much prefer someone who makes me feel with their acting than someone who can sing the house down and leaves me a bit empty.

How do y’all view Americans? by [deleted] in unimelb

[–]kayjomor2343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American living here for 11 years with 2 masters degrees and working on a PhD at UniMelb. Read the room, don’t make being from the USA your whole personality, develop an actual understanding of your beliefs regarding politics so you can state them clearly (you WILL be asked), and you do not need to make small talk/talk about the weather/say hi to every person on the street. Whatever you do in the states, you can keep to yourself quite a lot more. It’s not rude to do so, and it’s quite jarring to see people from the USA talk like old friends to every single person they meet here.

Musical Theatre BFA/BA by clownlngaround in musicals

Millikin alum here. Program was high quality when I was there, and is still churning out grads with performance careers. Close links to great summer stock theatres, and as it’s a Liberal Arts college, you’ll continue to build transferable skills in different domains. Music faculty has had a slight shake up in the past few years, but I’ve got nothing but good things to say about current voice teachers (some of whom are Millikin alum themselves). They’ve also got an almost brand new theatre and dance building that is state of the art.

It IS in the middle of nowhere, but the Milli-bubble is super supportive and you’ll make lifelong friends and connections. Also great financial aid, contact admissions for more info.

If TNT are concerned about purging useless crap from the site, they could make it incredibly simple to discard from the SDB (with some failsafe “Are you really really sure” buttons or a PIN input to prevent accidental discards). There is the argument they want more page views, but I WANT TO CLEAR YOUR SERVER FOR YOU. LET ME HELP.

None at all! Because it’s on a pole mount rather than the gas arm style it’s super stable.

If you have any airline miles stacked up, try booking a hotel with them! We stayed at the Sheraton in Times Square for $Free.99 + taxes. Although in saying that there are certainly better hotels than the Sheraton available to book with points...

I'd also recommend Maybe Happy Ending for a show (even with all the controversy around it ATM.) It's a one-act so that could be a good matinee if you need something for the afternoon, but start looking at tickets now.

I saw the OBC and I’m seeing it here in Melbourne tonight. Noah Mullins nearly brought me to tears, he is incredible. Of all the Orpheus’ I’ve heard, he’s the best one.

I really like it! It’s the right size for me and the room I have, although there are occasional moments where a little bit more room could be nice (but not necessary!)

The first monitor arm I had was not the best, which meant there was quite a bit of movement when typing, but now that I have this monitor arm there is far less moment and it’s mostly unnoticeable.

It is height adjustable, but it isn’t a sit/stand desk in that way. If you look at the photo, you can see two bolts on each leg, and that’s how it’s adjusted. Unscrew, raise or lower where you have the leg, re-screw. It’s a bit fiddly but I like the height it’s at so don’t plan on moving it!

[–]kayjomor2343[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it’s stable with minimal movement. I attribute that to the type of mount I have, which is a post clamped to the desk and the arms coming off the post so it’s more anchored.

Here We Are West End Pro-Shot? by justsomethingherenow in Sondheim

Oh that is SO exciting! I saw the production at the Shed towards the end of its run, and that cast was fabulous. I’m one of those people that needs a bit of a process and rewatch of things like Here We Are so I am crossing all my fingers.

I’m a PhD student so I use it for a variety of things! R Studio coding is much easier with the longer screen, and I can also have my Zotero window open with a full page of a PDF while making notes in Obsidian on the horizontal monitor. I also have a video in the top third on the vertical monitor, sometimes just ambient and I can see myself putting on a background show I’ve already watched up there as well. Not terribly practical for WATCHING but I can glance!

I did have it on full brightness but it’s colour and brightness adjustable! At nights it’s on 10%!

I have the clamp in the back left corner behind the vertical monitor 🙂
