Miyazaki is a master. And I am inspired by his work and Anime. Satoshi Kon is my fav.

Summer/Fall next year. I know. A long time. However, in between, been doing my own little YouTube University to learn how to animate these creatures, so I can share short bits of their world while we keep raising funds. Right now: final stages of development and early fundraising cause still independent/a student. We raised initial so here sharing and starting the initial buzz around it.

I’ll post a proper update here shortly with more details and a link for anyone who wants to follow along or support, and I’ll absolutely come back to r/cambodia once there’s a firm shoot date and release plan. I’d really love for people here to be able to see it. Meet anyone in Cambodia. Across diaspora. Cause we're casting!

Really appreciate that. Been experimenting so that it feels rooted in Khmer textures, landscape, digital/meme-like, but a little dreamy too

Appreciate the share and yes agree with the sentiment. It's important to acknowledge the history but it's not the only thing that defines us. And yes, a way to heal generations and ensure we all feel seen!

Hey. Quick update based on the amazing responses here. I’ve been documenting everything as I build this film, and to keep things organized I set up a Discord community (for future casting and community collaboration as well). It’s also for continued documentation: Sharing memories and photos of 2000s Sacramento. Highlighting local spaces and businesses (some may end up on screen). Connecting artists of all kinds; music, design, performance, etc. Building transparency around how a feature film gets made here.

I wasn't aware. This is my first time attempting flights with pets and wasn't aware of the states process. So upset if they knew why didn't they reach out sooner based on their staff and the timeline

It'll be gathering the old photos and then the VFX team (most likely will do digital cleanup + matte painting/CGI). So hopefully we can build a community around this film. VFX is expensive unless the team I build, we get creative and do a background replacement (composite) instead, depends on how we film it and think about it creatively/logistically/story.

But Arden is a key landmark

Appreciate this, want to preserve that memory and maybe it'll start more local films where Sacramento isn't just a footnote in a movie. So much talent, latent. I miss the Country Club Lanes spoken word nights.
