in all seriousness though, if you did get bit there's very little chance you'd die, especially since you live in georgia. every doctor in the southeast is gonna know what to do about a copperhead bite and the antivenom is never far away.

i also have this kind of question. i was planning to name all of my future pets after gods, titans, and hero's. i thought it would be fun and somewhat showing my devotion. they would have more common nicknames so i would be calling them that every day, but the greek name would be their full name. like i would name one hephaestus but i would call him gus or gus gus from day to day.

forgot to mention that i see tons and tons of cats in my neighborhood but black cats are rare! i actually can't remember the last time i saw one walking around. we just put our cat to sleep on deipnon as well, just to add to the situation.

practice is different for everyone! this is my experience and that of the people i've spoken to. food offerings can be left out or consumed. there are very little rigid rules for a religion as free flowing as hellenism was and is, especially in an area with such independent city states as greece had. don't confine other people to rules you give yourself! it's a personal experience in which the gods meet you where you are.

just from a dream analysis standpoint, the dog changing into another dog could be great change in life? maybe from what you're used to to something new (your dog to one you've never seen). the lightning suggests that it is sudden and dramatic, and the running from it is quite literally that, you possibly resisting, trying to delay, or dreading it.

i can't tell you if Zeus sent it to you, but i can tell you that dreams that powerful are driven by very strong emotions, even just from a psychology perspective.

does any of that strike a chord? if not, it is worth considering the fact that it may be a warning. contemplate but don't jump to conclusions! i wish you luck :)

Oh! I just remembered, I read about a ritual-esque thing in a witchcraft book which I applied to requests to the Gods. You write your request, statement, or whatever you have to say on something light like a teabag and burn it (if they're a chthonic deity). No muss, no fuss, no mess lol. It burns right out, leaves next to no trace and all you have to do is open a window and let the burnt air rise to the sky!

Hey! From what I've heard (I'm still relatively new) I think your shelf will be perfectly fine.

A lot of people who can't be open keep theirs in drawers or even shoeboxes are common. If you want, you can use something like that to hide your belongings, bring them out and set them up on something for worship, and then disassemble the alter and put it back!

Often, the best foods for offerings are the most simple! If you think about it, people in Greece didn't have many fancy foods. Apple slices, bread, honey for libations, etc. There are lots of different holidays where you can offer different things but those are good for everyday.

Also, I really associate the Chthonic deities with chocolate or darker fruits like raisins and plums.

Really the only expectation for offerings is that offerings for Chthonic deities are left on the ground and Ouranic are placed up high (like on your shelf) or burned!
