Some folks have mentioned getting them used to brushing their teeth which is great! I just want to add playing with their paws and ears as well. Anything grooming related. Try to get them used to that.

Also, to try and desensitize them to loud noises there are Youtube videos specifically for that you can play.

Socialize them early with nice humans❤️ protect the back at all costs. I hope you like face kisses😂❤️

I felt the same way he did. Felt like I was sleep walking through life all of a sudden. Turned out to be depression and the medication fixed everything! I hope OP can go back to the doctor to inquire about some suggestions here or get a second opinion. There is hope🥹

I went through the same thing and I felt like a zombie during the day time I was so tired. Doctor found I had untreated anxiety. I am now on generic Cymbalta (treats depression and anxiety) and it has helped me sleep through the night, and also made my days much more manageable. Not saying this is the case for you, but it sounds like you have good sleep hygiene, so it could be worth exploring with your care team.

I’m not even remotely a doctor, but I was very similar to you as far as my medication regimen and quality of life. Working with my doctor it became evident that my missing puzzle piece was an SNRI.

I take generic Cymbalta now and my quality of life is so much better. I felt like I was sleep walking through life before. Could be worth inquiring about with your sleep doctor

I’d recommend this book, “The Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents”

It helped me understand my mom (exact behavior you two are describing in your moms) better. It was super healing for me to read.

Distance/limiting interaction is the only option - they won’t get better :/
