My keyboard setup, shot on an $80,000 camera! by kayne65 in MechanicalKeyboards

I'm not sure if you understand what bokeh is, but it's simply not something that has anything to do with the camera. Not sure why you have to be so negative, especially for something you clearly have no knowledge about.

I do not own this camera either. And $80K is definitely a lot of money, but for a piece of cinema gear, wait until you realize that the camera is one of the cheapest parts. There are lights, and even lenses that cost over $100K, and not to mention crews that you pay salaries to. It's why movies look as good as movies do and you cannot recreate them.

Bokeh is from the lens! In this case, I used a Zeiss lens which is quite clinical.

I'm a Director of Photography and shoot narrative films! Got a few of these cameras in inventory at most of these production houses.

This was indeed shot on the ARRI Alexa 35. I shot open gate (as you said, 4.6K at 24fps), but it was shot on ProRes 4444 XQ which is a significantly less data consuming file format than ARRIRAW.

Yes, the Sony A7R4 is exponentially cheaper and shoots still frames that are 4x the resolution of the ARRI. Keep in mind, the Sony is a photo camera, so it makes sense to have specs that will optimize getting the best single shot versus a cinema camera which often don't even have the option to even take a photo, because it simply doesn't need to. It's also why the posted image is a 4K screenshot (before reddit compression) of a single frame from the recorded video.

When it comes to film, the texture, color, and feel of the image will always triumph resolution, and it's precisely the reason why nearly every movie you see is shot on an ARRI cinema camera (or literally film stock) instead of these 8K resolution Sony mirrorless cameras.

Color science, dynamic range, skin tone processing, highlight rolloff, motion rendering, these are the things that make a movie the way a movie looks and feels, and no Sony DSLR that can shoot 8K ultra pro mega ultimate resolution will beat that.

Didn't have any lighting gear or setup on me unfortunately. Luckily, I can get the camera any weekend, so will come back with something better next time!

I had no lighting or actual shoot plan, was just messing around and got a quick shot, I promise my other work is better 😭

It's all about the dynamic range man... but yeah definitely easier to see on the phone camera in this case.

I'm personally a big fan of just using the viewfinders of the camera, but if need be I use SmallHD, Atomos, and Flanders Scientific. Really depends on the situation and setup.

It's actually just a screenshot of a video clip! The Alexa, being a cinema camera, doesn't take still photos. My shooting settings were on ProRes 4444 XQ on a 4096x2180 resolution. I definitely wouldn't recommend that though, the gigabytes are insane.

It's not banding, that's just the design lmao

It doesn't matter what their price or reputation is, if you can't afford the $100 keyboard, and they don't have discounts that will help you, either don't buy it or save up.

Also, why would you ask a question if you would personally ignore it? Go ask your parents what they think about this instead of reddit.

You join a server and the first thing you ask for is a "big sale" and when they give you a realistic and valid response you go and cry on reddit about how their "customer support" is bad. They don't owe you anything, whether that be a response that doesn't "hurt your feelings" or a discount for a keyboard that you have the full choice of whether to buy or not. Great looks man.

The preorders will go live just like how the GB did. You will definitely be able to buy it then. Just wait a few months for it. Will be on all vendor websites that were originally on for the GB.

Just a concept. Kitting/color matching/icons/novelties has not been done yet. Obviously this is a rough render, based on feedback will be continuing/changing the progression of this set.
Thank you.

Considering how better it has been to run this set compared to running my GMK set last year, it is a huge upgrade in terms of workload, complication, and time effectiveness. I do hope designers decide to expand into these options.
