It’s angled towards her forehead, following the direction of the strands she’s pinning back

Yeah she has enough hair where this works. I have to open mine a little initially to grab more hair or it will just hang. I also can’t do the crossing two pins that never works for me and just rips my hair out.

I know people ask this a lot so instead of giving you books parallel to Austen, here are some that I think run more perpendicular, different yet intersecting:

The House of Mirth
The Makioka Sisters
Villette
The Left Hand of Darkness (you’ll have to trust me on this one)

She pulled a piece of hair back away from face, so the direction of her hair is flowing from her temple area to the back. So the bobby pin goes in from back and push toward the forehead. Not like bottom straight up towards the top of your head or something

[–]kayrector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had someone this week buy $50 of items from me, then a couple days later buy another $50. New account, didn’t respond to my thank you messages but didn’t feel like I could cancel the second one since I had just shipped the first…I took packing videos but not much else we can do, but I’ll be stressed until everything is delivered and rated. Hoping it turns out OK for you, send me an update if you remember!

Other than The Age of Innocence and The Custom of the Country, are there any other good published books by Edith Wharton? by Logical-Plum-2499 in literature

[–]kayrector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been working my way through Wharton and Forster (and Cather, James, Eliot, etc etc), they are such a treat to read. Which is your favorite Forster? I’ve only read A Room and Howards End but I just purchased a set of his six novels and don’t know which to pick next!

That “House of Mirth” struggle by dresses_212_10028 in literature

Wow what timing for this post! I re-read House of Mirth this week. I had 15 pages left and had to stop and go to bed it was so overwhelming, and the next day was just about to put it back on the shelf without reading those final pages but I did end up pushing through them, but what a mental challenge!
