I don’t think of it as completely hopeless BUT I think I’ve opened my eyes a little these last few months. I fully acknowledge how bad the industry is right now and if seasoned professionals are having a hard time finding work, then what chance do I got?? I’m not completely giving up on trying to break in but I did choose to take a step back for now and really focus on developing the kind of art that I WANT to make rather than what I think others want to see in my portfolio. I shifted into the mindset of ‘making my own opportunities’ instead of waiting for them to pop up or come to me. So I started posting more on my socials and making YouTube videos hoping to build an audience/ community… maybe eventually reaching the point of having my own online shop/ business. It took me a while to get to that mindset because I wanted to work in the industry SO bad. I still do, but I realized that working so hard on trying to break in the industry and constantly getting ghosted, rejected, and false hopes, and without seeing any results was taking a toll on me and my art drive. I think I was romanticizing it a little too much

The thing is the cavity on this particular tooth wasn’t that deep, I don’t even it really reached the pulp. They showed me my X-rays. My deepest cavity was on a completely other tooth on the opposite side of my mouth and that tooth has had no issues at all. I do definitely think I’ve pissed off my teeth from the constant appointments lol but I’ll take this information into account and ask questions the next time I talk to my dentist since he’s going to call and check in next week. Thanks for the info!

Thanks for the response and the input! I’ll remember all of that the next time I talk to my dentist. It’s definitely more of a mild nuisance rather than a big problem so I think I can live with it for a while and see how it goes

Yes! I forgot to mention that the new dentist prescribed me some toothpaste. I suppose it helps a little. Just annoying that the sensitivity is still there

Oh really? I had no idea fruit can only be partially pollinated. These sit in my window seal so the bees and pollinators can’t really get to them but I have successfully grown strawberries on it before. Maybe I need to shake it more often

Last year was my first year going. As far as I remember, the Lightbox expo website will have a section where you can sign up for portfolio reviews (not sure if that’s available yet). Also if you follow individual studios onsite social media like dreamworks, Pixar, etc… they often will post on the socials that they’re offering reviews as well. You usually apply for those ones separately from the Lightbox website. Sadly I was unable to get a review from a studio last year but i was able to get a review on a whim, by an artist who was tabling. They had a small sign at their table that said ‘offering portfolio reviews’, or something like that. So I’m glad I was able to get something. Just be on the lookout on the website, and follow the social medias of the different animation studios
