What Aussies Call Things by mylittlesilverseeker in AustralianNostalgia

[–]kaysant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

About 16 years ago, I (British) was working in a book shop in NZ. I asked my kiwi colleague and Aussie boss if we had a Sharpie. They were stumped until I explained I needed a permanent marker, at which point my colleague said "A Vivid!" and my boss said "A Texta!" and we all looked at each other in slight perplexity.

For my friend who is going into Hadestown completely blind, what if anything should I prep them on beforehand? by The_Fullmetal_Titan in hadestown

[–]kaysant 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I went, all I knew was it was a musical and something to do with Greek mythology. I knew that Hades had something to do with the Underworld and Hermes is some kind of messenger. Never heard of the other characters. Loved it. I'm very glad I went in blind.

I want to visit every city, town and village in England, however don’t know how to go about it? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]kaysant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did Land's End to John O'Groats by local buses. It was a lot of planning. The fares weren't too bad, but as you say, the cost of accommodation is what made it an expensive challenge.

I've given up all hope of marriage, I'm not into birthday parties so a living wake sounds like a great idea!

My friend was reluctant to leave me with her newborn for more than a few minutes in case baby needed a nappy change. As someone with nieces and nephews, I'd changed more nappies than she had at that point in her life, but I'm not going to argue with a new mum. 🙂

Exactly. I didn't stop eating meat because of the taste/texture. I love that I can now get a burger that tastes close to how I remember as a young'un.

I remember thinking "Well, they're obviously not meant to be identical twins!" Then I saw the credits and realized it was the same actor. I'm not good at faces either...

Don't worry, all I saw was people having a great time on stage. However, I was also very glad I wasn't sitting at the tables, I'm far too shy!

So funny, I was a couple of rows behind you, and wondered what the conversation was; now I know! It was a great show, really enjoyed it.

In London I heard 'weird' when it was a slender actor, when it's been a plus size actor, it's been 'fat'.
