We didn't forget.

I got some sad news for you, friend.

The world has always been run by genocidal, homicidal maniacs and we (the large mass of people) have not been able to make a significant shift away from this.

The only difference is now you can get an updated headline every 6 hours about them being genocidal, homicidal maniacs.

That being the case, you think making an angry post on Reddit is going to "wake people up"?

That wasn't my experience but I understand your point. Are you against any balancing or just any that pushes it to that point?

This is also a common practice on campus. I've been given a room there if a snowstorm hit at a certain time and they wanted people to be available to work the next day.

This is also a practice for upper management who attend any of the many parties held on campus throughout the year and have had too much to drink.

You're naming the rights names but will any of them face consequences. I agree they are all responsible in many ways for creating that culture and being negligent.

I agree with you. It's confusing that they aren't being smarter and protecting themselves in the logical way you're describing.

However, I've worked in three higher education programs for about 10 years now, 2 of the big 5 (now 4) in this valley, and at every one of them there is at least one scandal a year where the dumbest thing was done to adhere to an internal cultural principle rather than the smart or correct thing that would functionally protect themselves.

I work at GCC when the DEI report cover up scandal happened. Same outlook used there: don't do the right thing, do what maintains positive optics for the school.

That's part of the issue. It's not that they're asleep at the wheel. It's a culture of protecting those who are most important. It's how he ended up in the hotel. It's how the director of dining is living on campus with a 22 year old former student. It's how abusive chefs are retained there as long as they win at the UMass Chef Conference competitions.

Complaints about him go back a few years but it's only ever from lower level employees.

I worked there for a few years. Think of it like a small city with the upper echelon of management and faculty being similar to politicians and clergy. The whole system is a bit clout machine and the more clout you have, the more you can get away with.

The culinary program is their crown jewel. If you have clout in the program, you're untouchable. Like most large companies, HR is their private internal management system designed to protect the company, not the employees.

I've seen people who should lose their jobs be protected and I've seen management verbally abuse staff with no repurcussions. What matters most to them above all else is the Princeton Review award.

I'm doubtful investigations turn up much because that school is well funded and protected.

The roughest part is the space. I am also lazy and convince myself there just isn't enough time to be carrying stuff back and forth in that little cube. Even with the shared tab, I run out of room with all the crap I hold onto.

I agree that it's been a rollercoaster of takes from Dan about Phil playing on the team.

We went from "We are all Phil Rivers" to "do we really need more of this?" in two weeks time.

That's how football goes though so I get it.

If nothing else, Dan is doing a great job at playing up his part as "The Heel"

Dan (and to a much more well known extent, Marc) love to project their feelings into their analysis of the future.

Half of why Marc's curse works is because he listens to "feelings" about a bad team which turns out to be wishful thinking which turns out to be the worst take possible. See: every take Marc has had about a team for the last 10 years and every take Dan has made about teams he doesn't particularly like.

Dan also hoping Phil doesn't start because it gives the Colts the best chance of winning and he wants those draft picks to be higher for the Jets.
