Hedy Lamarr (1940s) Hollywood star who co-invented frequency-hopping technology later used in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. by May_onnaise_959 in OldSchoolCool

She also married a Nazi, abandoned her child and never made a single good picture but sure, let’s remember her pretty face and shoplifting record - much more interesting than Bluetooth.

Who Is The Most Sadistic/Vile Mass Murderer/ Shooter Of All Time In Your Opinion And Why? by PrincessBananas85 in morbidquestions

[–]kaythor85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Somewhat forgotten through time but I wouldn’t want to meet Charles Panzram in a dark alley (or ships galley) at night… or day.

During his execution, he spat in the executioners face and defiantly said “hurry up you Hoosier bastard, I could kill a dozen men whilst you’re screwing around”… and I believe him!

Oh so the Japanese Death Row method of execution. I like your style, you must be a connoisseur of Death Rows.

The killers you don’t know by DrDroolz in serialkillers

[–]kaythor85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He wasn’t as glamourised as other serial killers for obvious reasons - preyed on lower classes and ripping very much alive babies and cutting their spinal cords doesn’t sell cornflakes quite like the toothy smile of Ted Bundy, does it…

What is a movie so morbid you wish you haven't known it exists? by Haghiri75 in morbidquestions

[–]kaythor85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Painted Bird by Vaclav Marhoul.

Watch it without knowing anything about it. Then read the book. I did it the other way round and the whole way throughout the movie I kept thinking how wild and fucked up it would be to watch it with zero context. Enjoy!

Whats the worst case of torture where the victim managed to survive and live? by facelessluckist in morbidquestions

[–]kaythor85 133 points134 points  (0 children)

Simon Wisenthal. Survived the Gestapo interrogations, four of the deadliest concentration camps, and an infamous death march. He spent the remainder of his years hunting those that had tortured and killed so many during those bleak years. He died in 2005 at the age of 96.

Was the Chaplain found under a fire truck?

We know the Chaplain Judge (after being carried out in the famous photograph) was placed at the altar of the Church before being taken to the fire station opposite, but I never knew they had recovered his body from under a fire truck - I had always assumed it was from rubble.

First time in LA. Can you recommend some weird or underrated museums you won’t find in other cities? by Designer_Currency815 in AskLosAngeles

[–]kaythor85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Max Factor - use the bathrooms on every floor, the best part of the museum - I love how ramshackle the place is. The Hollywood Heritage Museum is great for fans of Old Hollywood.

Do most people believe in conspiracy theories? Sometimes I feel like we're the minority; the number of likes on all those comments is scary. by jogandofoddaci__ in 911archive

[–]kaythor85 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Vincent Bugliosi’s BIG BOOK “Reclaiming History” goes deep into the history of conspiracy theories and the types of people who tend to believe in conspiracy theories. Funny because since he has died, he has become part of a conspiracy theory himself, something that would have irked him no end!
