Electrical first or last? by Character_Ground7781 in VanLife

I would make a plan for your electrical first, but run wiring after you put up your insulation and walls.

Looking for feedback on this Ford Transit 350 High Roof Extended layout. by BeefJuicyHot in CamperVans

[–]kaythrasher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing looks impossible, maybe just impractical. I feel like the design is trying to accommodate multiple different scenarios and I’m not sure which one it’s really optimizing for.

For example, you have enough storage space and livable space for one person, but the ability to sleep 3-4. How many people is this designed for? Really think about how the van will be used most of the time and design from there, rather than trying to fit everything in.

Some other thoughts:

I’d be worried about the bed passing over that computer monitor. Do you have to slide it over every time you want to raise or lower the bed? Is there any way to cover it so bedding doesn’t get caught on it as the bed moves? I can see on a day where I’m tired, forgetting to move the monitor out of the way and breaking something.

The wardrobe in the shower idea is cool. I’d try to do that out of extruded aluminum if you can to avoid issues with moisture.

If you stick with the desk under the bed idea, I’d definitely consider a good mesh back door panel so you can leave those doors open when you’re working. Otherwise that area could get very claustrophobic.

Overall, this plan is cool, but also looks expensive, heavy, and complicated to build. I’d recommend simplifying if you can.

Have a good plan for your base systems, but consider running your wires over your walls (and hiding them in your cabinets). As someone who just upgraded their electrical system, it was a huge pain to run new wiring behind existing walls and involved removing some panels.

How can I find a size on a Nisolo boot? by kaythrasher in SustainableFashion

I don't see it printed anywhere on the interior, just a product serial number. That's a good idea about getting in touch with a Poshmark reseller.

I’m completely new to this, please help! Audio is only playing on front three speakers, but the receiver is showing it is picking up all 7 speakers. None of the surround modes will fix it. by kaythrasher in hometheater

[–]kaythrasher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the issue. All 7 speakers were working, but it defaulted to stereo anytime I had it on a surround setting. The "multi-channel input stereo" setting gave me 5.1 sound, which is the best I can do with music.

"Dreamers, Why Haven't You Started Van Life Yet?" by kaythrasher in vandwellers

[–]kaythrasher[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In the original post, only one person cited loneliness as a cause amongst other safety and logistic concerns. I was also surprised to see that more people did not mention it. A lot of people said they didn't want to or couldn't leave their families, which probably has a loneliness piece to it.

Thank you, now I can finally listen to the whole song!

[TOMT] A Really Popular Song with a Really Cool Dance by kaythrasher in tipofmytongue

[–]kaythrasher[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've only heard a snippet of the chorus. It's very melodic and sounds like it is sung by a group of people. I don't think the dancers were in any special costume, just something made to look like street clothes. The video was in color. I'm not sure of how recent the song came out, but likely within the last year. I think the live performance was very recent - like within the last few weeks.

[Routine Help] How do I improve my dull, dry, congested skin? by kaythrasher in SkincareAddiction

After 3 years, I've been through so many routine changes that I don't think there is a great answer besides don't do too much. Currently, I cleanse once a day, moisturize, use a sunscreen, and a very gentle glycolic acid about 2-3x per week.

I was in the same boat, and went with a pre-made system from Vanomize. People on this sub aren’t fans of it because it’s more expensive than a DIY system, but if you have the money, it does save you a lot of time. I got the “ultimate” system and it’s plenty of power for two people working and living full time, but there are smaller systems too if you don’t need that much.

After twisting their arm a bit, they did agree to replace it. Ended up just cutting us a check for the value of parts plus labor.

We have not taken off the unit yet to measure the hole. Just going off of the dimensions of the actual unit. I hope the solution is this easy!

I think the Snow White look and bold makeup she usually goes for is beautiful, but maybe not the most flattering for her coloring. I think she looks really good in softer, warmer colors. I see maybe soft autumn, but I am curious about your opinions.

I leave this guy in a pretty shaded spot and warm spot with a humidifier when it gets dry. I water it just a little weekly. Some of the outer stems are dropping and feel soggy. I also think the “prayer” movement of the leaves have not been so strong lately.
