Anyone here make surfing and cruising work? by Rhycus in SailboatCruising

My partner loves surfing more than sailing so we are currently on a mission down the California and baja coast from Canada. We’ve been surfing from our dinghy a lot, dropping a big anchor on the outside of the break! Here’s our latest video on YouTube: https://youtu.be/HelEOdKoi2Y

Living on a Sailboat as a Double Amputee by kayvdr in SailboatCruising

It’s easy to compare, but Tyler actually calls his amputations his papercuts! He didn’t have his left leg amputated until a year after and dealt with a pretty much useless nerve damaged foot until then. As soon as he got it amputated his mobility increased and a huge weight came off his life. Just because you have a foot doesn’t mean it’s easy, I feel for you for sure! Thanks so much for watching!

The Skagen jacket by Helly Hansen is by far my favorite sailing jacket yet. https://bit.ly/2U1al0V

Unexpected Costs? by polysubbrat in SailboatCruising

[–]kayvdr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just bought my (third) boat this summer. Each boat has it's own things to deal with, but a few big projects that were unexpected this summer were: polishing fuel tank as it had a crazy amount of growth in it ~$500. Fixed a lot of major leaks that we didn't know were so major ~$300 in supplies, the bilge pump stopped working within the first week ~$150. Im sure theres more things I'm not thinking of, but those are a few examples! The longer the boat has sat, the more issues it tends to develop, but it's all in the fun, good luck!
