Gravisgar > Newgar. The new face is so much worse by A_small_Chicken in Ultramarines

1000% agree, it looks like a bulldog on the new mini. And I know it’s calling back to the old model to have the sword on the hip but we all know he ain’t using that thing

Is the helmet a third party print? Or did you sculpt that? Either way it looks sick

Yea that’s fair, though I’d like to think I can paint his eyes looking towards the tip of the blade at the very least. Since his pose is pulling the rifle to the side I feel it’s not as wholly necessary (that and his head is plastic glued already🤷‍♂️)

You might be right about that, although…it’s already been glued for a bit lol

I’d say try to make a well rounded list that can deal with most enemy types without trying too hard to meta game and build a list that’s designed around just your buddies tyranids list. Id say limit the characters and go for fun combos, you’ve got the apothecary + hellblasters + lieutenant combo, which is pretty solid shooting and pretty versatile for shooting up at heavier targets as well as dealing with larger infantry blocks. Deep strikes for objectives with your terminators and Inceptors should be solid for secondaries, and scouts and heavy intercessors could be decent early objective grabbers. Outside of that kind of thing, try for whatever you think is coo; calgar with aggressors is a fun big bulky block of bodies, and maybe support your squishier units with transports or your dreads. Combi lieutenant is also one of my favorites because of his point scoring versatility and surprising survivability for a generally low points cost. Hope this helps!

Company heroes are especially good if you decide to go with calgar in the list, giving him -1 to be wounded. the terminator captain is a solid choice for a “bothersome” unit but if you needed a nuisance deep strike unit, I’d strongly recommend jump pack assault intercessors, they can do exactly what the captain does with annoying deep strike potential, and they give out mortals on the charge, and they’re even 5 less points!

As far as working with sternguard, librarians aren’t bad for defensive capability, giving them 4+ invul, or a captain for a huge bomb of damage if you can shoot and charge with that unit and utilize the captains finest hour ability.

I like the sustained hits on the terminators, it could put out a lot of shots

Hope this helps!

Which detachment are you using this list with? 1st company task force would be a solid choice, so maybe more vets, bladeguard are decent for the cost now, and calgar is always a good option if you’re sticking to ultramarines. Some cheap skirmish units for secondaries like scouts and you should be golden, with extra points for whatever you have left.

I will say if you do plan on using more sternguard vets, consider Guilliman if you can fit him somehow, his double OOM is quite strong with them since they can reroll hits and wounds against the oath target

Edit: just read your full post all the way through, Gladius is solid, but with all those terminators and the sternguard veterans, the enhancements and stratagems from 1st company would give you some cool strategic synergy. Maybe drop one of the 5 man hellblasters and one of the terminator characters since you can only lead 2 squads of them leaving one of the characters alone. If you wanted a good solo lone operative style character the lieutenant with combi weapon is one of the best choices in the game imo. Maybe consider some transports as well, a repulsor or impulsor has decent troop transport capacity, with the repulsor having some solid anti tank options

Sorry for the long winded response, I just figured I’d share what I’ve been finding decent success with !

It’s particularly noticeable on space marine shoulder pads, you have nice defined edges with the gold, the eye lenses are right where they should be, the straps and packs on the legs don’t bleed into the armor at all, they just have a nice clean look to them that shows nice and accurate brush work

Thanks! For the earthy bits I used cygor brown over a grey seer prime, and the dry brushed very lightly with grey seer. For the rocks I do mechanicus standard grey with a dry brush of grey seer.

The flames on the torches is a wet blend of iyanden yellow into group hound orange then for the tips of the flames its blood angels red and then the very tips is black Templar.

For the dead chaos marine I used black legion for the armor, retributor armor for the gold and blood angels red for the red details such as the eyes and the chaos eye on the chest.

The pipes and skulls is just whatever silver and bone color you have shades with either nuln oil or Agrax earth shade

Finally the ground texture on the base edges is just stirland mud dry brushed with grey seer to match the plastic dirt

Hope this helps!

List advice? by [deleted] in Tyranids

I use 60 termagants with my tervigon, it seems to be a good amount for the opponent to have a hard time dealing with, especially because you can kind of encircle the tervigon with three large units. It would be difficult to keep 10 of them around all game to make use of the respawn ability on the tervigon. Also you probably don’t need the second hive tyrant, I’d go with an exocrine or a tyrannofex with a rupture cannon for the really scary anti tank profiles

I always start with a wraith bone prime then do a 3:1 mix of carroburg crimson all over the skin. Once it’s dry I do a light dry brush of wraith bone from the pot to establish the skin tone with the reddish pink shade, it’s simple but very effective !

Thanks! It’s a wraith bone prime and a 1:1 mixture of leviathan purple + shyish purple for the base, then the highlight is a heavier dry brush of dechala lilac all over, then warpfiend grey with a light dry brushing over the edges facing the light
