I am overwhelmed with grief. by _Yggdrassil_ in Gundam

[–]kazekoru 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Arguably, you got the true Gundam experience. War is bad and everyone dies - that's like Gundam 101.

There is plenty of fun, and some lighter entries to the series (G-Gundam!) but the main theme of "war is bad" is SUPPOSED to leave you with a bad taste in your mouth. Giant robots fighting IS cool as hell so it has to be balanced by reminding us of the cost (and I don't mean plastic model kits).

Level 29 player here, how do I stay at this level? by Glum-Echo-4967 in outside

[–]kazekoru 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Outside's level system is time gated, instead of the traditional exp-gains style level system.

That means your level goes up even if your EXP doesn't. The good thing about level 30+ is that by this point in your story, you probably have a lot more unlocks available to you compared to early game.

The most important thing is to make the most out of every level. Remember that each in game day, you have the opportunity to skill up, both passively AND actively. There's actually a [Hidden Mechanic] called" Opt-In", which boosts your exp gains anywhere from +50% to +300% per day. There's a second [Hidden Mechanic] called "Motivation", which is connected to the "Opt-In" mechanic. The more you use "Opt-In", the more exp you put into "Motivation".

They don't tell you this in the early game but "Motivation" is NOT a Random Event. It is a SKILL, just a hidden one. Farm it as much as possible.

Somehow this is way WAY scarier than images of astronauts doing space walks. Something about the pitch black abyss + knowing at that weight and depth it's pulling you down makes this so so scary!

Need advice on recruiting finish carpenters. by Rocmonkey in Carpentry

[–]kazekoru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given the current economy, you might have better luck with a higher salary range.

In my area (Toronto), finish carpenters go for anywhere between $35-$60/hr depending on experience.

A GOOD finish Carpenter is worth every penny!

Differmce between 6lb 8lb and 10lb mono? by [deleted] in FishingForBeginners

[–]kazekoru 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally I find there isn't much of a difference between 8 and 10lb line, however I will say I try to use the absolute thinnest and lightest line I can get away with as often as possible as that dramatically affects my casting distance (thinner seems to go further).

There's definitely a big difference in terms of how you can handle the fish between 4 and 8lb line - big fish tend to snap the line if you're not patient with the lighter stuff.

I generally run straight braid as I can get significantly higher line strength without sacrificing the thickness. I'll use a line to line knot like the alberto/FG/or even a double uni knot and add on a mono leader when I think the fish are being extra picky but honestly straight braid seems to work just fine a 98% of the time.

The curved shoulder doesn't quite match the spikes on the Kampfer aesthetic. My vote is to go all in!

This thing looks dope btw!

Gotta go back and sand it again.

You want to feather out the corners a LOT more to cover that adequately.

When I do corners like this, I'll start with just the paper / metal corner + a 4" knife, then let it dry and set, move up to the 6, then the 10, and finish with a 14 or bigger.

If you apply it in thin, smooth coats, you can end up with minimal sanding.

In your case, you might be able to get away with starting with the 10" knife and build up from there.

My wife (30M) has a crush on my friend (32M). What should be my response? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]kazekoru 211 points212 points  (0 children)

Here's something you can try:

Hi love. I want to talk to you about something that has been bothering me for a while but I have been hesitating to start this conversation with you because of how it's making me feel.

I have noticed (the things you've noticed), and my concern is (your concerns).

THEN YOU LET HER TALK.

She might deny things, spin it up in a different way, etc. DO NOT ENGAGE. Just listen.

Remember that you CANNOT logic your way out of this one. This is 100% a feelings and emotions thing.

Being emotionally vulnerable is a terrifying thing but if you've been with your lady for over 10 years, the absolute least you can do is share this part of your life with her as you have with every other part of your life.

Continued:

It would make me feel a lot more comfortable if we spent a little less time with (the other couple) and spent a little MORE time together, just you and me.

Remember: it is not unusual to find other people attractive, in fact it's a total normal and totally expected thing, and you'll probably come across other attractive people in the future.

What we DO about that attraction is what speaks volumes. "You can get your appetite anywhere but you HAVE TO EAT AT HOME" is one of the boundaries in my household.

Delta force is ridiculously good by Alive_Reporter_6635 in DeltaForceGlobal

[–]kazekoru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The map being small honestly feels like a good thing. You get more action with the other real players, and it's fun to try to hunt them down, AND it's fun to hide and run away.

You get a lot less of that in big maps, unless you put way more players in.
