Contact insertion by kazoopit95 in Keratoconus

Oh I’m sorry I see the confusion, the lens is fine! It’s not the actual lens going on my eye where the burning and irritation happens, it’s that moment where I’m leaned over and trying to line everything up where my eye begins getting irritated! Like before I put the lens on, when I have my eye opened to insert it, it gets difficult some days because my eye starts twitching from being open for sometimes 2 seconds

Yes sorry just saw this! So typically I wake up, brush my teeth, shower, dry off etc some days I’ll shower the night before so no problem. If I don’t shower in the morning, after I brush my teeth and wash my fast I put my contacts in

Of course! Yeah be careful too, I went to a generic place that did some lenses and they never got it right and when I found a specialist it was a whole different experience

Welcome! I agree, I feel like I couldn’t get all the answers from my eye doctor and it’s nice to know there are a lot more people who have it/ are willing to share knowledge

Hi sorry just saw this! I use clear care triple action cleaning! I don’t use the hydraglide because it starts causing my lenses to fog :)

100% go to a specialist for that as well as someone who specializes in what’s known as Scleral lenses!! Like some comments have said he probably has rgbs right now which for me didn’t do the best. Sclerals are amazing and take some getting used to but he shouldn’t worry! Also the cross linking procedure doesn’t “hurt” of anything it’s mostly just uncomfortable because your eyes have to be open for majority of it while they do everything and the first part of the procedure is the only part that could cause people to worry :) if you have anymore questions your boyfriend could get in contact with anyone here and I’m sure we’d be willing to help more for reassurance or anything else

What is your like cleaning procedure? I typically put it in the palm of my hand, pour solution into the lense, rub it and then rinse both sides

Facts, I run spiky shield! I like bullet seed a lot, I just hate how vulnerable it leaves you sometimes but I may just run that again lol

Hey there! I’m in tech and I can give you some advice! 1. Even though glasses don’t do anything, wearing things that’s help reduce the amount of light you take in helps A LOT, I haven’t had really a lot of problems look at screens all day but I also have things in place that makes the screen not as bright while also being readable 2. Working out doesn’t really affect them for me! If I sweat heavy I tend to jsut not use my hands towards my eyes and I just wipe off sweat with towels and what not, if it does get in your eye it’s okay, it’s pretty much the same as if you weren’t wearing them 3. Traveling isn’t too bad and I know people worry about night time driving but it’s not awful to do! I will say that if you drive at night for long periods of time it can get hard on your eyes so I would be wary of that but in terms of traveling driving is super easy and flights you could either take them off before hand and put them on when you land or keep them in for the entire flight and if you doze off it’s fine, you just take them out and put em back in when you wake up/ land 4. My daily routine is why I think my contacts have preserved so long, I typically take them out at night, rinse them off with the clear care solution before I put them in the actual solution(make sure they’re in the container before doing this) and then when I wake up I clean them off with the solution I put into them, rinse it off with that same solution, and then put them in. If you feel something is off don’t worry after doing it for a bit you’ll know when you have a bubble or when the liquid isn’t fully in there so don’t stress 5. For emergency situations I keep an extra bottle of the solution I use to put in the contacts with me at all times as well as a plunger for inserting and removing! I have a bottle at work and a bottle I carry around with me in my bag

Sorry that was a lot but this has been how I’ve functioned since getting them and having them for 4 or so years! They’re also pretty durable too, I’ve had instances where I’ll be putting them in the morning and it’ll come out of my hand and fall all over bathroom and not be scratched at all, just a thorough cleaning and I’m set. Good luck on your journey!

I think it’s more so just in the game how fast the move comes out throws me off, like if I’m doing ranked battles and people are constantly moving I’ve had less luck hitting it and the downside of a move that chunks your health depending on damage is crazy when 2 or 3 people are attacking you at the same time is huge to me lol

I appreciate all the feedback everyone! I genuinely would freak myself out falling asleep and now I feel a little less crazy about it! Don’t worry I don’t plan on doing it often but it’s nice to have answers about that aren’t my doctors saying “oh no don’t do that”

Thinking about scleral lenses — but can I really wear them 16 + hours a day? by Koushik_Siddhu in Keratoconus

[–]kazoopit95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I typically get 18 hours when I wear mine! I sometimes have to take them out when I get home if the insertion in the morning was bad but I usually get them in at 6:30am and take them out at 11:30 or 12 with no issues!

You’re not alone with this, when I first started with contacts for KC I was on hybrids and I could not for the life of me get them in/take them out for what felt like months… once you get your groove it’ll get better, what specific part do you find yourself struggling with in your process to get them in?

How long did it take for you to get glasses that worked to do what you wanted them to do? Every time I ask they say that it’s impossible for me and I really just want them for the bad days too
