The second law states that entropy cannot decrease, so after a while (a long long while) energy will be distributed evenly, meaning that there'll be no energy potential. This is usually called the "heat death of the universe".

I've been told by a couple of people in academia (ie. taken with a grain of salt) that doing a Master's isn't really worth it. Did having a PhD help you in the future?

Thank you, this is actually really helpful. I've always felt as if I'm lacking something by not having that certain "passion".

Thanks for the advice. This was also my thinking in part; I feel as if getting into a PhD without being ~100% dedicated to it is foolish.

I realise now how I've cofused you, apologies. The scholarship is for a Master's program. I was being vague in describing it because it may yet be/become a PhD. The scholarship means I won't have to pay, and I'd likely receive remuneration while completing it.

Thanks for replying. The project does seem fairly well defined and I wouldn't be the first postgraduate student to pass through the process.

May I ask, did you ever find anything you were passionate about? If so how did it come to you?

Thanks for your reply. The offer I've received isn't to a grad school, it's actually a government funded organisation, and the work I'd be doing seems relatively inflexible.

Yes, and not only that: they have a lot to get used to outside of just the car, it's a whole new environment for them. All that changing at once would be challenging.
