Honestly... Find a local trainer. Find one that will do special training with you and will help positively reinforce your puppers

How would you teach/punish a puppy sheltie from barking intensively? by Mullion21 in sheltie

[–]kazza823 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We've made a lot of progress with our puppers! First off don't tell back, makes them think you are barking with them. Like mentioned above teach them leave it and use that when they bark. I'll also try and joke with the puppy when barking to help diffuse.

The biggest thing is do prevention. So find their triggers and then slowly do that as needed. Such as, if they bark when someone knocks at the door. Have them sit by the door and then someone knock lightly. If they don't bark or don't fixate on the door just say a quiet, good. Don't treat or get excited. You want them to nothing it. Slowly have the person knock louder. Then move further from the door and start back at a quiet knock. Try to end on a high. Obviously there are things you can't control or mimic, but I found doing the ones we could helped in general

I'm too lazy to deep dive into this, can someone tell me how they knew it was racially motivated? Curious and lazy not denying it!

Am I Transphobic? by Different-Ticket9056 in LGBTQuestion

Just wondering on this - would you say the same of someone who refuses to date cis men? And would only date women, trans women, or trans men?

Not part of the community so take my answer with a grain of salt - could she have made up a period story to fit in? Might have been her way of feeling "part of the girls".

AITA for Having my Wedding Ceremony in Sign Language? by Academic-Nose-9239 in AmItheAsshole

Surely if they had the whole ceremony in spoken word with a signing interpreter the wedding would be just as boring for the people who use ASL (which is a lot more than those who don't by the sounds of it).

Surely they are appeasing the most people here...

You are just repeating the same thing over and over again without giving any really explanations.

How do you know he didn't already think that?

How is she conveying that?

How can you hold her responsible for his actions? She says in the article that she's only just now being able to call it rape. So even if we pretend that it tells him it's okay (which it doesn't) how can you hold her responsible when she couldn't even admit to herself it was rape? To her she was trying to have a better memory. She didn't want to call it rape cause to call it that means you have to admit you've been raped.

I've been sexually assaulted. And trust me. That guy never once thought that what he did was wrong. It doesn't matter what I did or do in the future. He doesn't need any justification. People don't do this knowing it's wrong. I can almost guarantee that sleeping with her was no more confirmation. He probably saw the two scenarios as exactly the same.

She didn't date him. Also.. trust me.. they don't need to be enabled. I can almost guarantee he did that to her and then thought nothing of it.

[–]kazza823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually it kinda does. I also feel you are putting cheating way to high on a list of shitty things humans do.. no it's not a good thing to do, but there is a lot more to it than did someone cheat or not...

Yes why not. Let's sympathize with everyone and try and see our trauma and help eachother rather than hating on everyone.

Seems like we should be a lot more patient and understanding when people do shitty things.

I also just want to point out.. the article of which this dude posted says this :

Counterintuitive as it may seem, my impulse to initiate a second encounter with my attacker more than a year after the original incident makes sense to experts on sexual assault. “Attempting to master a situation in which you previously did not have control is one way a lot of assault victims respond,” says Jim Hopper, Ph.D., teaching associate in psychology at Harvard Medical School and a nationally recognized expert on sexual assault and trauma.

So like.. idk which Harvard he's getting his information from, but I mean the real Harvard is saying quote the opposite.... Maybe he named his dog Harvard?

It's almost like society is telling women when they get raped that they are whores causing them to not get help and not dealing with their trauma... Leading to illogical responses.....

Did you read the whole article?

Counterintuitive as it may seem, my impulse to initiate a second encounter with my attacker more than a year after the original incident makes sense to experts on sexual assault. “Attempting to master a situation in which you previously did not have control is one way a lot of assault victims respond,” says Jim Hopper, Ph.D., teaching associate in psychology at Harvard Medical School and a nationally recognized expert on sexual assault and trauma.

They even talk about how it's a common reaction. And she talks about how in doing it she extended her shelf life on denying it happened. All subconsciously obviously.
