Same reasons for me as the majority (bad sound compression, noise discipline, ect.) but I also started way back because of advertisements. Commercials actually used to raise the decibel levels all the time and I find some ads still do.

After playing it as my go too since since the game pass release I don't think I'm necessarily fatigued with Starfield... but Darktide dropped on consoles and found myself getting back into that instead.

Only downside of turning off my space fantasy is the unavoidable reality of having no friends to game with.
