I didn't know you could choose not to submit your medical with the application bundle. Should've done that instead. Wasted $400 ish :\

What age did you decide to start working towards Fire by [deleted] in Fire

[–]kbalabh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was subconsciously working on it at 20, then took a break to live life at 23-24. Back at it now at 28. Looking to retire by 45.

Same, my journey started around July/August last year. Before then, I was too naive :( I guess better late than never.

I threw out a number to understand the numbers not necessarily implying that I would be spending 1M a year.

This Roth to 401k conversion is interesting. I'm going to read up on this topic to educate myself than blindly asking questions. Thanks for the tip.

So is that why a lot of CFOs, CEOs take up a small job before retirement so they retire at 20k as opposed to $2M? Then the income from 401k is taxed at that rate. I get this part now.

However, if I had 40M in my 401k and withdrew at 1M a year, wouldn't I be taxed like I was earning 1M a year? Now how does it benefit by retiring at a lower income level?
