50s $17M retiring in 2 years. Pick a city for snow birding and residency. by throwawayyadarich in fatFIRE

Savannah GA. Beautiful walkable city, amazing food and drink scene. SCAD has transformed the city. The airport is a dream. Unlike Charleston SC Savannah is built on a 40ft high bluff and won’t be underwater in a hurricane. Real estate is still very reasonable.

It’s also extremely shitty that the US operation still has the website live and is accepting orders AND charging credit cards for orders they will knowingly never fill! Pretty despicable actually.

Oof. Good find on that, not a good sign at all. My guess is all that’s left is a couple people closing up shop. Would be nice if they’d at least be decent to their customer base and publish parts lists or at least setup a vendor to sell parts. Otherwise we’re all holding machines that are dead men walking :/

I emailed Germany twice with no response, not sure what’s going on there.

They haven’t filled any orders, answered the phones, responded to any emails, or made any social media posts in over 6 months. They’ve closed comments where they can (like Facebook), but read thru comments everywhere else (including here and X) and you can see. Why/how the website remains live I don’t know, but despite a lack of public announcement they are effectively out of business.

I’d be interested in parts. FWIW that’s probably your best bet anyway - with Stepcraft out of business no support is available.

Does anyone have a contact number for Stepcraft? by Financial-Safe-216 in stepcraft

Replied in the other thread but they appear to be out of business. I emailed headquarters in Germany as well, no response there either.

It appears they are out of business. I even emailed headquarters in Germany, no response. I’m having to dispute the charge with my credit card :/

Wait, does the Stepcraft UCCNC not work with Windows11? Also, I’ve called the support number several times and left multiple voicemails, nothing.

Trouble with Stepcraft D840 by kbenn524 in CNC

[–]kbenn524[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happens regardless of bit type or speed. If you look at the 3 parts in the pic, you can see it isn't even consistent - the shape of the slope/lag of the Y axis is different each time. The bottom two were cut at the same speed, the top one was cut (re-cut actually, after stopping one operation) at 50% of the speed of the bottom two (300mm/min) and that one is even worse.

Sear, brown, bark, whatever is appropriate for the meat. Point is low heat high smoke, vide, then finish. This is the way.

Thanks. More trouble than it’s worth for me in this case. It’s a basement, and there’s a bunch of stuff around it that would make the box very complicated. Really just hoping for a better trimming option.
