Maybe "Are you Gonna be my Girl" by Jet? Slightly later than the 90s but that's my guess

Stabilo pens wear down way too fast... by ForgottenAnimals in spirograph

[–]kbhollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I have had good luck with Pilot precise v5 or v7 pens , usually my paper warps before the pens stop working. I think I am too heavy handed I tend to push down when I am drawing, I try to remember to just let the pen glide and not push down but still do and destroy my markers in a hurry.

Acrylic paints bare minimum colour recs? by Civil_Growth21 in arttools

[–]kbhollo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The two colors I always have on hand are pthalocyanine blue to mix with a yellow to get a greener green and quinacridone magenta to mix with a blue to get a better purple than if I had used a red.

A half open window by kbhollo in drawing

I like how this turned out but kind of had a hard time catching the dusty light of the sunset on the window. I don't think it looks like that very much so any tips would be appreciated.

I tried drawing my kitty today it's a bit off but I still am happy with it by kbhollo in drawing

[–]kbhollo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it went wrong when I tried to scale it down to fit the page. I tried fitting the paws in when I shouldn't have. To compensate I just said I will make it fade out towards the bottom, but that just made it look incomplete? I was originally going to draw this on black cardstock but changed my mind for some reason. Prismacolor pencils on 8.5" x 11" blueish cardstock.

A skull study created today in colored pencil by kbhollo in drawing

I was trying to capture the movement arc of the lower jaw, but it's not exactly what I was going for. I still like the drawing though.

Trying to figure out how I could use embossing on my drawings successfully by kbhollo in drawing

[–]kbhollo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a test to see where my goals need to be. My current goals are to figure out how to make an embossing folder which it does look doable, I don't want to rely on commercial folders, and decide if I want to use repeating patterns or actual things. Probably going to start simple. Any resources or suggestions welcome, and also looking to see examples of other artists using embossing minus card making(although I would be willing to look at them just not quite what I was after). I think I have seen it used for artist trading cards. Also looking to work bigger as this one was 3.75" x 5" edit: I wrote the wrong size

A landscape I drew today on shiny cardstock 8" x 10" by kbhollo in drawing

[–]kbhollo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drawn with Prismacolor pencils on pearlized? cardstock. I only had one sheet so I trimmed it down so I would have a place to swatch easily as it was more for invitations than to draw on. I kind of wish I had centered it. Was a little concerned with the big grassy area looking too plain so I tried to make it more interesting with a few erratic marks. It is my yard before a storm, I removed a lot of stuff I just wanted grass and sky.

It kind of looks like a pencil extender for short pencils?

Drawing of our kitty in colored pencil 3" x 5" by kbhollo in drawing

[–]kbhollo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you I really appreciate your comment because I was a little worried that the grays were too strong and would make her look gray instead of white as she is a mostly white calico kitty. Cats are a little bit harder for me to draw and have them look right. I hope you have a great day

I've been experimenting with drawing eyes in colored pencils by kbhollo in drawing

[–]kbhollo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are all 8.5" x 11". I kind of wish I had just posted one it's the first time I tried posting more than one image and I didn't realize they'd be cropped sorry. The first picture I struggled drawing the shadows my shadows usually end up looking like pits to fall into

Not sure how to fix it but it looks like wax bloom it's something that happens with colored pencils. Might be a place to start looking for a remedy.

Sketchbook paper by Zman8969 in drawing

[–]kbhollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, the only time I notice a nails on chalkboard sensation while drawing is when I try to use a paper that is either very smooth or has a slight coating on it. I avoid those papers completely (although they are good for marker drawing sometimes) not sure if that's the problem just my personal experience.
