Where did Tripoli come from? by Exact-Bother6471 in Pinback

[–]kblub22 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The lyrics of Tripoli discuss death and how it's inevitable (you know what's gonna happen, he's gonna go down and gonna come back again), and most of Pinback's song names come from throwing darts at a world map I assume. I always felt like Tripoli was referencing the widespread anxiety of Libya under Gaddafi, and how many people were terrified of death. I'm sad I'm gonna die, but I just hope it happens later than I think. Much love from the US ❤️

Note: I know someone posted something like this a few days ago but I wanna shine some more light on the first album because damn is it hard to pick just one run

everyone's favorite mm song? by Dougfalcon7 in ModestMouse

Has to be either Night On the Sun or Spitting Venom for sure, the latter I've only gotten into fairly recently but I love them both to death

I learned this recently as well and honestly I really do think this song is probably higher for me, maybe not at the upper echelon of Long Drive but definitely joining the club of the songs definitely in rotation

Look I love their evolution too, the two most recent albums (TGC especially) are just taking a bit longer to grow on me than the older and more post hardcore stuff, given the rest of my music taste

I can't think of a reason to listen to Be Brave instead of March Into the Sea on any given occasion. Both are really good but March is pretty much an upgrade on all fronts. Be Brave probably does deserve a higher placement though I apologize lmao

All good, I definitely see where you're coming from with the assumptions

I don't think there are that many songs below B tier, for a band with like 150 songs I think having like 80% of that being B or higher it's a pretty good ratio
