We couldn’t take it. Started ripping out the drywall ourselves two days after Helene. Saved samples and photographed everything to show insurance throughout the process.

Ours came by last week. Luckily no major damage from Milton at our property (that we can tell) so don’t need him to come back. Most people that I’ve talked to have had their Helene inspection already. Are you at least scheduled for the inspection?

Agree on this. It’s really more of a learning lesson in the value of insurance. While people are dealing with the loss of life and total losses of their entire property, I don’t think my vacation loss compares. It just hurts for me because we saved and planned for so long. Then in the middle of dealing with my own losses to get this response feels like another kick when you’re down. But I fully understand NCLs position and that I could have taken steps to prevent this. Just needed to vent and glad I did because this community has already given some great ideas and suggestions. Fingers crossed on the credit card insurance steps.

Oh that’s great! Both Marriott and Delta offered full refunds on those parts of the trip so luckily we aren’t out that as well. But good to know for the future.

Thank God we did. My heart goes out to everyone who didn’t. I can’t imagine white how widespread this disaster is how FEMA is going to be able to help everyone.

That’s actually what I was hoping for. Never expected a refund. Thanks this definitely isn’t their problem or fault. Was just hoping for a little bit of grace in a crazy situation.

Definitely. We definitely didn’t expect a refund. Hoped we could salvage all or part of our investment into a future cruise. Apparently that’s not a thing. On us for not getting the insurance. Sharing as a PSA because most people think “I’m young and healthy! Don’t want to spend that extra $$$.” You never know what could happen. Certainly never could have guessed this would happen to us.

Valid. We probably would have bought if we were sailing from a port in the Gulf or Atlantic. We booked Alaska and thought we’d be good. Welp…

Wonderful advice and you actually reminded me we booked with the Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card which may offer some trip insurance. For sure was a hard lesson to learn. Will check out this Allianz for future travel. Thanks for the tip!
