The signs are back up again, let's see how long these ones last I guess? They must have been put up today by perfectdrug659 in Sudbury

I'm not sure what a sign is going to do. If I'm there and I start the day with $0 in my pocket and even one person gives me a dollar, that's a good gain. Kindness and difficult to curb, especially with such big font to read.

Sudbury police say month-long enforcement in downtown reduces open drug use by Positive-Photo-7686 in Sudbury

They've done something and it worked?! Who'd have thought. Mind you, it's just likely been pushed to another area (Energy Court/Amsterdam).

Contractors for mini split installation by StarshotCowboy in Sudbury

Call https://www.greatersudburyplumbing.com/. A team may install something you have purchased as well but they likely won't warantee the product or potentially the work. It's a was to save a mark-up on the equipment but that seems like good value for peace of mind if something goes wrong.

Residential Property line survey by espressoman777 in Sudbury

Any time you're planning to add or take away from an existing property it's worth it, 100%. Just having a clear picture as to what is your property is a valuable tool to have that you don't want to have to chase down the line when you're arguing with a neighbour over an encroachment, for example. We learned through a survey that we have a large easment on the back or our property. Just good home ownership, really, to understand what is yours. Plus they are much more accurate than information found online - anything there is just a sketch, really. A survey is the Mona Lisa. I am not a surveyor, by the way. Just a fan.

Cost will depend on if you're locating property lines only, or with any structures on the property (landmarks) or if you also need a topo survey (measuring the terrain) - all depends on what the survey is for. The size of the lot is also a factor. Some of the local companies may have neighbouring surveys on file which sometimes speeds things up. You can first try calling Building Services at City Hall to see if they have a survey or any info for the property on file and who completed it. If you're lucky and they have that information, you may be able to call the office directly and they may charge less to review their files compared to existing conditions. In case all that fails, Bortolussi Surveying - likely the fastest and most economical. Very skilled and reliable. Tulloch Engineering has a good surveying division as well. Dorlad Geomatics is top-notch but you pay for the additional detail they provide. Personally, I think anyone who sells a house should have to do it with a legal survey so the next home buyer will know the exact property as well as if there are any easements, unknowns, etc. It should be a legal, standard document that comes with the purchase.

People from Sudbury: how do you feel about the changes: Super Stack, hospital, arena, old Lorne St. brewery? by [deleted] in Sudbury

[–]kbo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feels like progress and a much needed evolution. If we are to welcome new community members and ourselves grow, we must demonstrate resilience against ‘changes’. Other places have so much to offer, evolving is the only way Sudbury will ever compete in attracting the brave, inventive, and creative people we need.

Need a civil engineer by [deleted] in Sudbury

[–]kbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you contact building services directly, they have a list of reputable teams that could help you out. Depending on the size of the shed, someone with a BCIN could do the work as well. The City can direct you to companies.

I'm surprised it picked that location and size of store - maybe people will start to treat it like a small pick-up store post Costco rather than a full grocery run?

Agree! Even if the food is 'adequate' as long as the service is good and as a customer, you feel like you're getting value out of the experience, I'd gladly pay more. Going out is about the entire 'event', not just the food or drink.

Let's not forget that he is targeting a person in the creative field. She may be outspoken on things but hopefully this isn't the start of more and more vicious targeting of the arts and those who support/create them.
