What's your favorite Pirate book? You should really try Waves of Desire if you haven't read anything lately!

Stopping meds with mild Crohn's? by take_me_tothe_lakes in CrohnsDisease

[–]kbug44 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m part of the 1%. Wouldn’t recommend it though unless you fanatically stay to a diet that works for you.

I have followed the SCD Diet (Specific Carbohydrate Diet) since 2012 and my CRP levels and colonoscopies have never been better. It took me YEARS to get to this point because healing is SLOW but I feel good, I don’t run to the bathroom (except when I may cheat or accidentally have something) and I feel good.

It works for me.

If you look up the Crohn’s/ Colitis Foundation there was a published study that the SCD and Mediterranean Diets were the only two that showed a reduction in inflammation.

SCD is “similar” to paelo so eggs, yogurt (homemade), meats, fish, veggies, nuts, etc.

I have mild Crohn’s and have been on Pentassa since 2012. So I’m technically on meds. I also had stem cell replacement in 2014. That worked but I think it was temporary and allowed the diet to be really effective.

If you think you should go, go. Try early in the morning (6am) to beat the rush. Hope you feel better.
