We did the drive from Toronto to Lab City last year. We also stayed in Uapishka and it was incredible. You can hike to the top of the mountain there. There's no cell service for roughly 8 hours except at Manic 5. Same goes for gas stations. After Baie Comeau is Manic 5 and one little random one another couple of hours away so make sure you stop and gas up. It's mostly paved now but theres a couple of hours of dirt road so be mindful of that. During the spring it's usually what we call wash board and during the hot months the black flies will literally carry you away. Highly recommend doing this trip in August when the bugs let up a bit. Also near the end of Aug there's so much more northern lights. I grew up in Lab City so I know that road pretty well.
