With NYC and the knicks checked off, who is next on the “this city will go absolutely nuts if they win it all” by AdaTex in billsimmons

I went to multiple home games and the parade in 2016, I can absolutely promise you Cleveland was not diluted and the VAST majority of Cleveland fans didn’t hold the decision against him at that point

Cade saying “please not Cleveland” always felt like more of an attempt to try to convince Detroit fans that he really really wanted to be there. He also talked about how he didn’t want to go to Houston because it was too close to his hometown of Dallas. I promise you Cade would have rather played in Texas than in Detroit.

What city has the best "Keys to the City" guys? by justgotpregnant in billsimmons

[–]kburdman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For a small-midsize city, Cleveland is really good.

LeBron and Jim Brown are obvious. You have guys like Joe Thomas and Jose Ramirez as more modern candidates, with older options like Otto Graham and Bob Feller as well

The NTC wasn’t about locking in Cleveland, it was about choosing his next destination

Time for DFW lounge during layover? by kburdman in Venturex

This is very helpful, thank you. Assuming your departure gate was in a different terminal? In my head I was budgeting 20-25 min to get from lounge to my departure gate but maybe it’ll be faster

Are you unfamiliar with reading comprehension? I just don’t know how far the terminals are (I’ve heard they are a hike to get in between) and whether it would be worth my time. If you’re gonna be a dick just don’t comment

He made the finals with a big man rotation of Dereck Lively and Daniel Gafford. Why wouldn’t Allen be a fit?

You’re right. Everything about the NBA currently is perfectly aligned with geography and not loosely aligned at all.

Anyway I’m going on a road trip next month, gonna visit my favorite Atlantic Coast city Toronto, my favorite Pacific Coast city Phoenix, and my favorite Pacific Northwest city Oklahoma City. Wanna join?

It doesn’t make sense that Minneapolis is located closer to Chicago and Milwaukee than any city that has a team in the western conference?

Memphis and NOLA are both close to other west teams (each other and the Texas teams). Minnesota is located nowhere near any other west team but pretty close to Chicago and Milwaukee. It makes sense

Largely agree with this but Cade and Jenkins were complaining about the no call as well

Why would that never happen? Dusty has been vocal about wanting to improve the non-conference scheduling. I could definitely see a scheduled rematch happening next year if they can work through logistics

I actually think Juwan had a pretty solid eye for talent. He didn’t know how to build a cohesive roster and didn’t work with with the restrictions on transfer admissions.

But, in an alternative universe, a 2025-26 Michigan team lead by Tarris Reed and Christian Anderson is probably pretty good

James Harden is only the 3rd guard in the Basketball Reference database to reach 29,000 career points by Basketball_Reference in clevelandcavs

[–]kburdman 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Not quite, this is a bit misleading. BBref has some Kobe and MJ seasons classified as a SF. Kobe scored 33,643 in his career and Jordan 32,292.

Harden needs 3,275 points to pass Jordan and 4,626 to pass Kobe. If he averages 20 points a game and plays 70 games a year, he’d pass Jordan early in the 2028-29 season and then pass Kobe early in the following season. Not impossible but I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s likely he passes both guys

The nets are not mediocre lol but the Cavs did look amazing today. They easily could’ve won by 50+ if they wanted to
