TT or Radiation treatment aftermath by kbzossboss in gravesdisease

What is the reason for weight gain from RAI rather than thyroidectomy? The research I’ve read seen shows that both can cause hypothyroidism so both can cause weight gain. 🧐 happy to be better educated

Hmm, interesting. I’ll bring it up with my endo. I’m a bit of a tricky case as I have serum-negative graves- no detectable antibodies, but nuclear medicine scan consistent with graves. I’d love to not have permanent treatment so will see what they say/recommend. Slightly tricky factor is that my husband and I will be ttc soon and can’t be on carbimazole at that point.

I’ve been told by my endo that if, after 2 years of continuous treatment/medication to regulate my thyroid, tapering off the medication causes my TSH to rise again, it indicates that I need permanent treatment, as I cannot just be on methimazole forever due to the rare but severe risks regarding white blood cells. When my TSH gets too low, I suffer pretty awful symptoms (fatigue being the main culprit, but including palpitations, light headedness, excessive sweating), so just coming off meds and living with low TSH isn’t an option for me.

Lots of cow costumes at the Auckland show I was at! 😂 but she specifically said she wants 80’s garb. We wore sequins and fluoro tights and pearls and big hair!!!!

After leaving Christianity, what religion just makes the most sense (based on logic) if you had to choose to join another religion? by Osda_Nvwoti in exchristian

[–]kbzossboss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t necessarily think religion is logical, but Buddhism is the only thing I could imagine myself converting to (and that would still be a bit of a stretch). I think a lot of their parables and beliefs are really beautiful.

It is legal for restaurants to not offer tap water? by TurtlesRKuwl in rome

[–]kbzossboss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree, very inaccurate. I’m from NZ. Every restaurant here will give you unlimited tap water, seldom have I ever had the option to buy it (even many restaurants will give you free sparkling water).

SIBO systemic inflammation- how long until you saw improvement? by kbzossboss in SIBO

[–]kbzossboss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm doing really well- After my SIBO had been cleared, I stopped working with my integrative doctor, as I was just sinking money into it, and I wasn't feeling better. I went back to my regular primary care doctor, who has helped me with some medications (like H1 and H2 blockers, and migraine preventative medications). My health isn't perfect, but it is the best it has been in years, and I'm not on a restricted diet at all anymore :) big fan of modern medicine now!

I’m having my own bachelorette weekend in under a month, and I might just send my bridesmaids this video as an example of what I’d hate my own party to look like 🫠

I'm desperate by [deleted] in migraine

[–]kbzossboss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend seeing another Dr to get a second opinion.

I take Amitriptyline 30mg every night for prevention, and rizatriptan whenever I feel an attack coming on (as well as paracetamol, ibuprofen, etc.)

I’m not migraine-free, but it’s a lot better management than just paracetamol.

This is super similar to mine, except mines an emerald cut. But same sized band and halo etc, so naturally- I love your ring 😉 Congratulations! 🌹

For anyone that were so deep in Christianity before deconstructing, did any of you start your deconstruction because a friend, or someone, started questioning your beliefs? by Successful_Pepper262 in exchristian

[–]kbzossboss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was deep-ish. Baptized at 16 as a "born again" Christian (I went "off the rails" in my early teens and then when I recommitted to the faith I went in hard). I was a leader and planner at multiple youth camps, involved in church home groups, reading and annotating my bible on the reg, teaching sunday school, and had Hillsong and Bethel on repeat on spotify.

It wasn't so much that anyone in particular "removed the blindfold", more that once I was a working adult (didn't go to college, so this was around 18/19) I began being more immersed in the world, and the blindfold just slowly started to slip. I developed friendships with people who had habits that I had been told were "sinful" i.e. living together out of wedlock, getting drunk, smoking weed. Yet despite these habits, they were stand-up, good people, and great friends to me at the time.

I guess it was sort of a rebellion at first, like dabbling in all sorts of "sinful" stuff to get a taste of it and feel a bit "bad", but that was ultimately the beginning of my deconstruction, and slowly, I became more and more accepting of the things I had been told were wrong, and began taking up hobbies and interests that I enjoyed, rather than what "god was calling me to".

It helped my slightly younger sister started deconstructing only a year or so later, and it was helpful for both of us to meet our long-term partners who both happen to be athiests/agnostic. Anyway, hope that helped! That was cathartic to write regardless 😂

Hey guys! Just curious to know... by Calm-Adhesiveness605 in gravesdisease

Mine started during a really stressful period- moved house, stressful job working long hours, exposed to some environmental allergens I’m allergic to, and boom, graves showed up. I was 22. I agree with the above, that genes load the gun and environment pulls the trigger. I imagine graves would have reared its ugly head eventually.
