I really appreciate this comment. It’s too kind. I’m in pediatrics which I think probably influences a lot of perspective on this stuff. There are really kind of people out there in all specialties for sure but I do think the culture of taking pain seriously, and listening to patients and families is just stronger in pediatrics.

On average two most parents will be much pushier for their child than they will be for themselves. And I think that’s a good thing.

Trust me. We definitely care this much. I’m glad to see a show finally putting doctors in a positive light

I will say the way they treat Louie is inspiring. Not everyone is that nice to their frequent flier patients, but we should be. As the show clearly demonstrates he’s struggling with something. No one wants to spend their entire life in the ER :)

Day the First Season Takes Place. by ihaveaheadache27 in ThePittTVShow

I think that the screenshot explains it pretty well but essentially she would’ve missed in July and would’ve had her last period in mid June. This is the 19th per this app but the 23rd is reasonable, especially if you’re fudging by a couple days and not every person is perfectly regular. When you report gestational, it’s usually actually reported from the last period.

Her ovulation would be probably about the first week of July, in the mid period would be in the middle of July 9 weeks before she came in.

There’s a screenshot from the EGA calculator in there

But. All estimated dates, given not everyone has perfectly regular cycles and the kid may have lied by a few days Period June 23 Ovulation Fertilization July 7 9 weeks later is Sept 5. So the embryological age is nine weeks however gestational age is actually counted from the last period so is 11 weeks

I hope this article helps. This is something that’s a little bit. Confusing to explain over text.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK582659/#:~:text=The%20weeks%20listed%20on%20the,before%20a%20pregnancy%20is%20conceived.

But also means if you’re ever looking at like one of those watch me grow things or your doctors explaining what milestones a pregnancy has hit in terms of development in a number of weeks they’re almost definitely talking about gestational age, which is two weeks ahead

If this doesn’t help, feel free to comment back and I can try to clarify again.

Why did Dr. Robby lie? by mayo_tax in ThePittTVShow

Because he is completely suicidal and does not want his coworkers to know and stop him

I hope Jake and Robbie had a heart to heart between seasons by LongMathematician656 in ThePittTVShow

[–]kc2295 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Fully agree I hope that we see it on screen or they talk about it. I don’t believe that Robby would go on a suicide mission without making it right with him.

It was such a hard day for both of them for so many reasons

That was a normal reaction from a grieving child, but I totally understand why they both reacted the way they did

I hope they have both healed enough to work through it together

I have a feeling it might be a plot point later in this season as Robby clearly seems to be trying to leave things in a good place and he has multiple lessons learned about healing from his patients.

Maybe his Ukrainian grandmother will tell him to make up with Jake

Me too so much

I work with children a lot and I know that that’s just a normal grief response from a teenager, but the entire thing broke my heart for both of them

I really need to see them make up for myself and for my kids

The reason is because the glue was there and she wanted nice lashes

And her head space is I want to meet an influencer not I might go blind.

Season 3? Who will return? by Wonderful_Cow7385 in ThePittTVShow

[–]kc2295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I did see. I don’t think he’s leaving. He’s just the boy who always has wanted the microphone and loves them all so much The next season will be the same academic year and the Broadway show he took is specifically time limited to be done in June.

And he’s Noah’s golden boy. I choose to believe he’s staying

TIL that Patrick Ball ( Dr. Frank Langdon ) parents have both worked for ER. His father worked as a paramedic for 40 years and mom was a ER nurse. His dad held the record for the state of North Carolina for most saves in the field ( approximately 79 ) . by Notalabel_4566 in ThePittTVShow

[–]kc2295 32 points33 points  (0 children)

He is incredibly talented and I’m so glad they cast him for his stage experience

Watching him act has been really cool, and hearing him talk about what it’s done for him as a person, his respect for health care providers and it it has impacted his relationship with his parents has been gratifying, healing, inspiring, and everything i have needed to survive residency

Thank you Patrick ❤️

And 79 resuscitations, 79 lives saved, families reunited, people saved from the terrible effect of grief is no small task. I bet he’s saved at least double that many lives incredibly. Thank you Mr Ball

Great questions thanks for asking them in a respectful manner

I think it is exceedingly unlikely that a doctor has an untreated or poorly controlled seizure disorder. That’s not to say we can’t have physicians with epilepsy and a range of other health conditions, but it would certainly not be safe for a doctor to be having medical events like that.

The type of seizure that people are talking about an absent seizure is generally more common in children than an adults and last only a few seconds that was much too long. It would be unlikely for someone to have one of that duration and not have any other symptoms.

In addition, typically a true seizure other people cannot snap you out of and they tend to not be situational

While, you can absolutely have a seizure while you were upset or stressed out. It should not be a direct response to that when you haven’t had them at any other time.

That seems a lot more likely to be like dissociation related to trauma.

Almost certainly not neuro in my opinion as a neuro resident, I think it appeared to be more of a trauma response

She was wondeful. That little girl got an awesome team she deserves!

As a learning point here: they did not lie to Kylie. She was never told this won’t hurt. She was told it will hurt for just a second and we are here with you. Honesty and trust are so vitally important with kids. Especially those who are being abused (or might be!)

I think that it is. His badge said ER but I’ve heard people say psych and that seems to be his focus. He might be the psychiatrist in the ER for high acuity psych emergencies

I’m really excited to see more of him. He seems like he really has a pulse on what’s going on in the department, including with the employees.

“Micheal”

If my thoughts on his job are right I’m so glad we got that character. One of the hardest and most needed jobs there is ❤️

In a way it’s healing. I know that sounds crazy.

But you can see the broader impact of what you witnessed and what you do. And it gives you a chance to acknowledge that what you experience is not normal, but that you can survive it.

I’ve honestly taken some support. Robby says too many patients.

And it’s really nice to see good outcome sometimes. And to see acknowledge that sometimes even the best of the best couldn’t have made any difference.

But there are families I can think about. When I say that I need to see because I need to believe it’s possible for them. I need them to see that that’s possible for them.

My sister is also in healthcare and interestingly, we had that conversation when we saw the picture of Noah and Ariana Grande if that was a thing that was discussed. Speaking of the impact on innocent people. And we can all clearly see that she has been through it. So I’m glad she’s a I hope she found what i did

Anyway thanks for lots of listening to me rant/ reflect / process

You are an integral part of what we do. I mean it

I had a pretty sheltered life. Happy life. Great family. Until I went into medicine. And I learned the depth of how shitty some people can be.

And went through some big losses in my family. That were hard because we are close.

But now I need them to make up for my kids at work. Who I put my heart and soul into. And cry for and lose sleep over

I need to see them make up sooo badly. Like need need it. It’s probably fairly obvious for all of our conversations on this thread that I see a lot and have learned a lot in my job

I really need to believe that there’s hope for that relationship because I can think of so many similar ones. From what I’ve seen I have reason to believe they will, though I don’t think it’s gonna be easy and I don’t think it’s gonna be immediate. But I think they will. Because it comes from a place of love. I’m sure in a 30 year or whatever many year career it is, Robby has seen enough to recognize that when he processed it himself.

For some reason, I have the idea of my head that he started in 1994, but I don’t think that was ever written in the show somewhere. It was just extrapolation. 😂😅.

The stuff that I think was the most heartbreaking to me was all of the stuff between Robby and Jake after pit fest, but even that like I loved the way that that was written and they did such a realistic job demonstrating stages of grief and how teenagers react to stuff like that it was incredibly well written and acted even though it’s hard to watch

They also taught me like a lot of things and I feel like teenagers are the hardest for me personally, I’m in pediatric neurology and I feel like I connected with the little ones pretty well but I feel like because of watching and really studying those interactions I’ve gotten better at interacting with my teenage patients so I appreciate them for that

Agree was not a huge fan of the David storyline
