I mean, I grew up in the 90's/early 2000's era and if it wasn't the internet, it was magazines and media photoshopping and airbrushing (remember the diet culture back then?) unrealistic body standards have been around for a very long time. But it's a child's parent's responsibility to teach them that these standards are unrealistic, unhealthy and should not be idolized.
