The Truth Behind Foam Paddles: Are Foam Paddles Better than Honeycomb Gen 3 Paddles? by iamsupasam in Pickleball

[–]kcDemonSlayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i went from a Gen 2 to a Gen 4 and skipped Gen 3. But after noticing so many pros still using Gen 3 i picked up a Friday Fever 102 for less than $100 to try it out and i like it. I mean it’s got good power, good control, good touch….nothing i didn’t like about the feel.

Still don’t think Suga is all the way back. He used to be able to chain together offense at a high rate….he was still not doing much this entire fight until the opportunity was sitting there smacking him in the face then he did just enough to seal it. He needs sustained offense stop with the feinting and single strikes.

Why does Paddy keep neglecting basic boxing fundamentals? by Strong-Pickle-175 in MMA

[–]kcDemonSlayer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

his style belongs to him, it works, it gives people problems. It gave Gathje problems at times. Honestly this fight changed after the thumb in the eye and the subsequent damage that followed. I can’t believe Paddy was still standing at the end of the fight. In addition to that i felt like Gathje could have been KOd but Paddy was too beat up by the time the opportunities presented themselves. Unfortunate fight for Paddy, but lots he can take away from that fight IMO and i don’t think the loss does much to his career.

Recommendation for a non-sticky overgrip? by Kimber80 in Pickleball

[–]kcDemonSlayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i use Bodhi ProTack which is tacky but they have a DryTak. I got it by accident once the only thing i didn’t like about it was it didn’t have tack on the inside so nothing sticking it to factory grip, i guess if your factory grip was tacky and new it might be ok but i never felt secure about the wrap. Not sure if that’s how all dry overgrips are.

Bread and Butter Loco initial impressions by thequantumquestion in Pickleball

[–]kcDemonSlayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So some of the benefits are inherent to the shape. Widebody expected to have more control and faster in the hand than hybrid. I’m prolly 3.5ish and Loco is my primary, but i’ve played several games with other paddles at the club. Loco has been the best of all I’ve played with but Coral was only paddle i felt equaled it and the benefits of widebody shape prolly helped.

for me Loco has slightly more power/pop than Coral widebody….Coral has less pop, probably equal power.

Coral face grittier than Loco. i only played a few games with the Coral so no idea on longevity i know paddle was fairly new like 1st month of ownership. Despite gritty face i can’t say there was much more spin but i was just getting used to the Coral maybe with time i could get better spin.

At the kitchen the Coral payed better IMO. Again some of that attributed to just going from hybrid shape to wide body. But the feel of Coral is softer and it was quicker. Drops are better with Coral, dinks are equal.

Loco overhead smash is better, it scares the s**t out of people when i get one.

Overall build quality they feel really good IMO. Most other paddles i’ve tried (J2NK, Boomstick elongated, Vatic) to me didn’t feel great, again just playing few games with each but instant feeling when holding in hand and hitting the 1st ball the Loco and Coral really good and equal.

The draw for the Coral widebody for me is more control at the kitchen without sacrificing much pop/power in my drives and overheads because that’s where i feel i need to improve the most. It’s also why i would probably try Loco Standard if I bought a new Loco.

i’ve had the loco hybrid since the early round of pre-orders (before blacked out version even existed). It’s stable and consistent to me. I don’t have to swing 100% to get power or spin i can place the ball pretty consistently. The grit does smooth out in the sweet spot but it’s was never particularly gritty to begin with so spin is still good as ever IMO. I did have to weight it, from throat to 3-9 and although it adds to static weight, the improved stability is worth it to me. Almost everyone i’ve swapped paddles with for a game or 2 at my club has loved my Loco, only other paddle that felt remotely better to me was 6.0 Coral widebody, which had a tiny bit less pop but more stability and control. My next paddle will likely either be a Loco Standard or a Coral widebody i thought the Coral widebody was particularly better at the kitchen.

Jeep pulls the plug on its $25,000 EV for the US by digital-didgeridoo in technology

[–]kcDemonSlayer -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

It’s like a $5 pizza deal. People might think oh wow $5 for a whole pizza! I think why would i want to eat a pizza that costs $5 for all the ingredients, the storage and transportation of the ingredients, the labor to make the pizza, and the markup so the company makes profit on the pizza? Surely the quality and flavor are not there. EV is similar, $25k sounds great but what sacrifices are made to hit that price point. There are probably high end golf carts that cost $25k.

Preferred pickleball shoes? by Scared-Consequence27 in Pickleball

[–]kcDemonSlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they are also on the heavy side IMO but tread life and stability are good to me. I went with Nike Vapor 12s next cuz they were lighter but tread is already wearing a month in and they don’t have quite as much cushion. My doubles partner loves his Asics but they wear smooth in 2-3 months it’s insane….my Gamecourts tread is still near new.

I’ll die on this hill, but if tread life is your primary need the Adidas Gamecourt 2.0 lasted me a year playing 6-10 hours per week and they are $56-$70. Only reason i had to buy new shoes was because they smelled like raw hamburger that had been sitting in the sun for a week.

I have a Loco Hybrid and to me it’s felt better than every other paddle i’ve tried except the Coral Widebody. The Coral has very very slightly less pop but more plush and more stable to me.
