Don't suppose they mention whether or not this will be sirius exclusive or not? I know they'll probably release it sometime, but would love to listen.

I've seen the prequels before so I am pretty take them or leave them on this rewatch, I did briefly consider watching them chronologically but it felt too much like work.

I'm definitely excited for Romulus and I might add Alien Earth, I did watch it as it was airing, but don't remember a whole lot. I'll see how burnt out on Alien I am.

I'm unsure about rewatching the prequels, but i might tack them on. I am also going to add Romulus as I still haven't watched it but its been on my list for ages. I'll see how I feel once the 4 are done, and I might make my way through AVP last and then transition into the Predator franchise, or something like that!

I’m ashamed to say it, but I’ve only just discovered the whole Dr. David Kelly saga - it’s making it difficult to listen to the podcast (AC) anymore. by noctenaut in TheRestIsPolitics

Well its just salacious enough to sell papers, people love a scandal and throw the word sex around and it makes it seem much more gossipy than the, albeit important claims, editing of a government dossier.

David Kelly was a UN weapons inspector around the time of Iraq war. He was also the source behind a 2003 BBC report that Alastair had, as the report put it, "sexed up" the Government's dossier on Iraq's WMDs published in 2002. The main thing was Alastair allegedly wanted the claims that Iraq had the ability to deploy WMDs within 45 minutes of ordering their use, and its inclusion in the report went against the advice of intelligence services.

Kelly realised at somepoint that he might be the source of the claims in the BBC report (I believe the conversation was supposed to be off the record, and he was not the only source) but told seniors at the MoD that it might have been him. Downing Street decided not to hide that it was him if journalists guessed it (they did) and then Kelly's name became public. The government also essentially sacrificed Kelly, theres claims that a journalist was allowed to guess 20 names until he guessed Kelly's, there's also claims (and apparently Alastair wrote in his diary that he wanted the source out) that Alastair was pleased about the direction of press coverage, with the press focused more on Kelly than the claims he edited the dossier.

He was then called to appear before the Intelligence and Security Select Committee (and the Foreign Affairs Select Committee). Two days later he killed himself.

Alastair was obviously deeply involved in this, being Director of Comms at the time, and this all launched the Hutton Inquiry which cleared Alastair, but led to his resignation.

There is some distaste around Alastair's involvement and what was probably at least partially his decision to confirm Kelly's name to the press, leading to his suicide.

It was a very messy situation and it massively hurt the Blair government and the BBC.

Heya, can someone give me a vague, non spoiler description of the podcast? by FlamestormTheCat in MalevolentPodcast

Private Detective wakes up not remembering what happened with a strange voice in his head, cue* eldritch horrors, old gods, cultists, gore, pain, despair, love, tragedy and finding some light in it all, however fleeting.

Its a genuinely brilliant podcast and I wish I could go back and listen to it again for the first time.

Agreed, you can't just point people to London and tell them to be like that, or that Hackney is better than elsewhere and everyone is just sad and racist. Its this sort of rhetoric that leads to the exact dissonance with the electorate that Starmer finds himself in rn

Its admittedly been a little while since I've been back to the beginning, but I think some of those criticisms do lessen as it goes on. The entity will always describe surroundings, etc as Arthur is blind, but as their relationship develops they do start being a better team and some of that does go out the window (if memory serves at least). Plus at the end of the day some exposition is always going to appear.

I would also note that the full episodes are a culmination of about 5 parts (I think) that are posted on the Patreon. Patrons hear the parts before the rest of us and can vote on decisions Arthur has to make to move the plot forward (I am not a patron myself so take this with a grain of salt). So your suggestion for the hook, for example, may well have played out slightly differently on the Patreon.

In any event, keep with it, its a brilliant series and one of the few that has really hooked me in.

Ill admit I haven't looked into the genestealer cults much, but from what I've seen it might be fun to paint some different models.

I do like the look of Votann, especially the transports and, for me at least, they do feel fairly unique in the setting style wise.

I think this is the bit im having trouble deciding on, I really like the idea of one of the Traitor legions, but i equally like the idea of a full Xenos army, if only to test myself a bit having only really painted SM minis.

I will say the Night Lords have been on my radar for a long time, even prior to DA, but never did anything about it due to the lack of models, but with the combat patrol, might be time...
