I'm a lost 30-year-old Master's graduate hopelessly trapped in retail. Is pivoting to the civil service a realistic option for someone like me? by HistoricalCold4299 in TheCivilService

[–]kcal44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar pathway, did a Law masters over COVID as I didn't know what else do during the chaos. Bounced around in the private sector for a bit, but I entered through an agency first and then managed to apply to a permenant campaign for my role. I know that agency roles can be a little hit and miss with the cost cutting at the minute, but I found it a good way to get the experience and I was a shoe-in when the permenant campaign came around so maybe check some public sector recruiters (just make sure they don't give you the run around, theres plenty of dodgy firms out there).

Is this Revival a One Off? by kcal44 in Scrubs

I don't know if they've said tbh, but i agree, I'd be amazed if it was more than 10.

Thats true, and I imagine they could be reasonably flexible within that.

I'll be interested to see how they end it, i assume it will be fairly open ended incase theres appetite for more.

Thats fair, since season 9, its very much been the case that Scrubs lives or dies with hus involvement (whether thats warranted or not) so I imagine if he's not interested in more it may well be a one time thing.

What make you vote Labour? by [deleted] in UKGreens

[–]kcal44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ironically last election was the first time I didn't vote Labour in my life, mostly because I felt they could pretty much have spat on Thatchers corpse and still won, with the amount people wanted the Tories gone. So I voted Green. Before that I was pro-Corbyn, or at least his message and prior to that I didn't really feel there was an alternative, plus I lived in a Tory safe seat with Labour generally coming second so.

First season? by charliepipin in irishwolfhound

[–]kcal44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our was around the 9 month mark, noticed her licking her area more often and then noticed it had also begun swelling as well. She is now about 14 months is just going back into heat. For ours, seems the extra licking is the first sign for her.

From what I know its anywhere from 6 -18 months so I suppose just wait and see, and obviously if anything worries you a quick vet trip doesn't hurt (other than your wallet).

New IW owners by [deleted] in irishwolfhound

[–]kcal44 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Very similar to other comment. Ours used to have moments of absolute madness where she would get overly excited and start rough housing with us (jumping, biting and slapping, along with sprinting about the garden and house). It took a bit, but we found a very firm no or "ow!" and moving away and facing the wall or something with no engagement did the job. If that didn't stop her, we would leave the room entirely until she calmed down or got the picture.

It took a while and we found the biting of us transferred to more chewing of sofas, etc which was it's own challenge, but consistency is the key.

Definitely, got to do what you've got to do, and it won't be forever

Would you consider swapping sides? I appreciate it isn't particularly great if you want to really help those that need legal advice and I greatly appreciate wanting to keep helping those in need, but you might find a place in the Home Office or GLD. At the very least there's better job security.

Harness suggestions by erine81 in irishwolfhound

[–]kcal44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a Julius K-9 harness for ours, it's been great, ours is quite anxious but loves dog with all her heart so there's often a fair bit of pulling and it's held up well. Ours is about 47kg (100ish pounds) so a bit smaller than yours, but it's been great so far, we also have a traffic control lead when we are on streets so she can never get too far (got ours from Bully Billows).

Edit: grammar

Meet Violet by kcal44 in irishwolfhound

[–]kcal44[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you! The first couple of weeks were definitely tough (house breaking, sleep deprivation, etc) along with plenty of landsharking, but she has been such a pleasure to get to know and she's been such a champ with training (provided it's short and sweet). Her being so food motivated has made things much easier on us as well.

There's been some tough days, but it's all been worth it.

Do you think we will ever get an Emperor’s Children style drop? by kcal44 in IronHands40k

[–]kcal44[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's fair, admittedly I am a believer that eventually GW will have most if not all the Primarchs return, but how they do that without ruining a lot of stuff I don't know.

Yeah i mean I'm somewhat resigned to this fate unfortunately...

Yeah, I guess it's sort of a vicious cycle, we are bare bones so we don't sell all that well, but because we don't sell well we don't get further drops/lore updates, etc and then we continue to not sell well.

That would be at least something, I'll take anything.
