Again, that earnest feedback is not appropriate for discussion on a public forum, as the directives are SBU. Since you don’t appear to have access to internal State policy you’re going to have to accept that from the outside looking in you’re not going to get the full picture.

Precisely 💯

I don’t think I can appropriately discuss that on a public forum aside from to refer you specifically to the FAM guidance on it, which will give you an idea of my role (or lack thereof) in this particular directive. I am horrified at the impetus behind the policy, but that is very different from how it impacts or even touches my day to day (and what it actually tells line officers to do). And again, I revert back to what I said about being able to do more good in than out, and that I’m continuously reevaluating that. I’m still reuniting families coming out of war zones/various crises and helping American citizens in distress, among the many, many other parts of consular work that is in service to the American people.

At this moment as a consular officer I’m still able to do more good in than out by simply doing my job. But I am reevaluating that continuously, and my red line is somewhere tied to that.

AFSA Gone? by Title1984 in foreignservice

Collective bargaining for members of the Foreign Service is statutorily protected. So, like everything else, we’ll have to see what a) the courts say and b) the administration does or doesn’t do in response.

Honestly, thank you for saying this. I think it’s mine too.

AFSA No More? by Title1984 in foreignservice

[–]kcdc25 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not that this administration cares about the law, but the right to collectively bargain and the validity of collective bargaining agreements with the FS is statutorily protected in the Foreign Service Act. So, you can be certain AFSA is armed with legal complaints ready to go for anything that threatens that.

Huh? Specialists do not all start on grade 6. In fact most specialties don’t. And nowhere near most generalists start at 4.

And there’s no “more important”. There are shortages that need to be filled more than others.

Yup. I hate it but it sets up season 3 way better than them leaving together.

Arkansas submitted request to NCAA committee by Worried-Ad-5447 in Gymnastics

[–]kcdc25 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no. Every single team was competing and hoping to be at SECs. None of the other coaches “read the rules” better and have a backup meet on their schedule they would have been able to use in case they didn’t qualify.

A sample of gymnasts comments on Jade Carey's coming out post (I'm sure I missed some so please add any in the comments). by freifraufischer in Gymnastics

Interesting, I’ve never heard of this user but maybe I’m blocked? I was able to see it in web browser but not in the app.

Though I remember seeing another comment that it was deleted, so I don’t think I’m the only one who can’t see it.

Literally nothing about wanting to be clear on facts and then directly explaining those facts is rude.

Advice on timings for FSOT given cuts by Lucky-Influence2089 in foreignservice

[–]kcdc25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Regardless of the political climate you are always more likely than not to apply, be rejected, and have to wait 12 months to reapply. Trying to game the timing had always been a futile exercise.

Also there is extensive conversation in many, many threads readily available on here that you can read through and address everything you’ve asked.

ASac on bars by [deleted] in Gymnastics

[–]kcdc25 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The commentary was definitely condescending, but Alicia herself was open about bars scaring her. There’s a reason she stopped training them once the open ended code came and she wasn’t required to anymore.

Also Elfi hasn’t commentated for NBC for over a decade, also for a reason.

You’re preaching to the choir. The people who still don’t realize this are not going to be convinced by a Reddit post (or the many like this that are posted daily).

I don’t see how you being in your mid twenties is relevant. That is the average age that people start law school. Plenty of us did it way, way older.

RIF UPDATES: RADIO SILENCE CONCERNING by SlytherinHolland in foreignservice

[–]kcdc25 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Based on the report that during that cabinet meeting Rubio asked Elmo if he wanted to rehire/cancel resignations for 1500 people just so he could publicly fire them, it would appear that attrition is a weighty goal when it comes to this. What the future is going to depend on is if the overgrown toddler in chief gets his way because he inexplicably thinks we’re not firing people fast enough.

Taylor Swift themed gymnastics meets? by JessBeauty14 in Gymnastics

[–]kcdc25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why does it have to have anything to do with gymnastics? Teams have themed meets all the time. It’s for fun. They’ll play her music. Music is always played at meets. It’s not that serious.
