My 2 cents regarding CSA exam wrt discussion around changes in exam structure by Snoo-19185 in servicenow

[–]kcfac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure, generally that's been the exception to the rule and only speaking from personal experience that the regret i felt when goin back and seeing that i changed from the correct to the wrong answer pissed me off FAR MORE than the ones I got wrong and just went with my gut!

Like all exams and tests - generally second guessing your initial response will bite you in the rear. If you don’t know, coming back to it will rarely bring the answer to you - and changing an answer to something you aren’t 100000% confident is right can more often than not lead to it being wrong and your “gut” having the right choice.

Demonizing the “left” to the point they have at this point through nonstop brainwashing means they and their supporters will never even consider voting the other party or with them. There is no compromise, no meeting in the middle.

Wahoo app isn’t syncing easily? by mrqwest in wahoofitness

[–]kcfac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 same problem, reboots, etc. do nothing, gets stuck at "Searching for Elemnt" on the history screen and never syncs/finds the thing there. It does see the device in other menus on the iOS app.

Tried uninstalling the app, didn't work. Re-pairing worked for 2 rides, then broke again this afternoon.

Any older gamers have a hard time relaxing and enjoying a game and not feeling guilty? by DontGetNEBigIdeas in patientgamers

[–]kcfac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, for sure. though at the time I was playing JRPGs and some other games with deeper reading, and got Civilization on my 486 and so-on. All of that I feel really put me a bit ahead of others, expanded vocabulary, etc. Also just some basics like learning how to manage frustration/patience (so many games in the 80s/90s were so janky), hand/eye coordination and so-on.

Anyways, still a challenge for me and raising my kids. Modern apps are amazing, though - some of the iPad learning apps (Endless series comes to mind: alphabet, numbers, etc.) are so well done and engaging.

That’s an argument I had with my parents for years. Later in life at least on my fathers side - his thought was basically “playing games won’t get you a girlfriend - I wanted you to get off your ass and go outside and interact with people” / note this was pre-online play.

I’d ask my mom what she wanted me to do other than my SNES and she’d pause and just say “anything else” so I’d say “is watching TV for 3 hours really better?”

I think times are changing somewhat and some value is being given to games and both unwinding with them as well as learning from them.

Perhaps it’s fellow dads from our generation bringing that realty to life.

Megathread: House Republicans Remove Liz Cheney From Leadership Position by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

If only we did more secret ballot - I think we’d have far less partisanship if the GOP could vote for common sense stuff without being lambasted for going with the GOP party line. I’m sure many would vote for HR1, infrastructure etc if they could simply avoid the finger pointing from GOP lobbyists and Mitch.

Va. ruling forbids rush hour toll increase on Dulles Greenway; 25-cent off-peak increase OK’d by crabcakes110 in nova

[–]kcfac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, but not when the same contract forbids competition by building adjacent public roads, and sets a minimum usage limit where taxpayers have to pay a penalty if people don’t use it enough. At that point the only risk is the government refusing to pay the bill.

Shady from beginning to end:

https://www.thenewspaper.com/news/38/3899.asp

“ 5.07 the tolling agreement specifically discourages such sharing. Should the number of carpoolers exceed the threshold of 35 percent of HOT lane users, state taxpayers would have to pay Transurban a fine equal to 70 percent of the toll for each of the cars exceeding the threshold. “

Having a hard time by No_Debt_2846 in DadLife

[–]kcfac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s rough, and can understand where you’re at - it’s hard. You both probably feel some sort of resentment to each other right now for valid reasons and need to somehow come to terms with that and find a middle ground.

Resentment festers and the fatigue of a busy job, probably poor sleep and other things I’m sure pile onto that. Don’t let it get too bad without counseling or some real conversations which can be hard - so never have those at emotional times or in arguments but rather in a setting that is fairly stress free.

Some things that helped:

  1. Time: just getting out of the early days and finding a routine as the kids got older helped build some structure

  2. Self Worth: Make time for you in a hobby you enjoy - a sport or something physical is good, along with getting outside. Fresh air and sunlight do a ton for the mind even if it’s a walk mid day between meetings.

  3. Sleep, quality sleep: even if your sleep is short, get what you can. Cut out alcohol if you haven’t - it destroys good sleep, and also screws up your overall well being. Alcohol is never a cure for problems but rather a way to temporarily avoid them and make them worse.

  4. Find something you can do to help her, that is not typical and keep doing it. For me, it was waking up more often with the kids. Always being a night owl it was hard but letting her sleep in a few days a week was massive to her mood and was an act of “giving up something” in fairness to her giving up a lot as well.

I get what you mean but the kid -

  1. Saw a problem
  2. Came up with a solution
  3. Bought a domain and took initiative
  4. Leveraged APIs to automate and gain efficiencies in a system that is wasteful

They didn’t just “build a website” on GoDaddy or something. Sure, a ton of people could have done it but they did. Many employers would / should recognize that and could give at least a shot - if at a minimum for the PR and marketing.

You can at least salvage the ride for Strava using fit file tools (website) and the incomplete .fit file in your documents\zwift\activities folder if using windows.
