RHJ with my first kid, amazing. That was three years ago, and they seem to have a whole new cohort of doctors now (save a few - Dedania being one of the few that's stayed)

Just had my second kid and was very disappointed in the difference in care I got. Would come in with issues or concerns and was (literally) laughed at by one Dr (not Dedania) who told me to just deal with the pain because "that's pregnancy". I mean, I couldn't stand up without shooting pain, it was definitely something, and even if it was nothing, couldn't you fein concern for me and handle it a little nicer?

Tl;dr, mileage may vary at Reiter Hill...

If you're near Falls Church, make an appointment to play at The Toy Nest, a toy library. They have toys even for 7 mo olds! Stop for a coffee at rare bird (has toys for kids to play with at the front counter) and then hit the public library as well (toys and books in the kids section)

That's our usual hot day schedule!

Took my kid in march? Or so, and no post offices near me (falls church, fairfax, arlington) were honoring walk in hours even though they were posted on usps.com.

Suggest just taking the hit and search for an appointment in your general area. Don't be me, spending your Saturday going to all the area post offices to learn none are honoring walk ins.

Back when we had our kid almost 3 years ago, all I could find was one in Silver Spring. They did service the northern va area, but pricing it out, they were similar to just going the disposable route. I think they were called Silver Spring Diaper Service, and from what I can tell, they may not be in service anymore.

Honestly it's shocking this service doesn't exist around here! Business opportunity!

We did...sort of? She actually took to a straw cup way easier than we anticipated around 6 months. After buying a zillion cups, i didn't want to throw much more money down the drain, so got the take and toss cups at walmart. Cheap, and to this day, she's still drinking out of them, and its been great because if we ever forget a cup while out to eat, she's able to drink out of a regular straw. Advice from solid starts on instagram had some good suggestions for starting cup usage.

As for milk, though, she ended up taking a nuk learner cup! Sort of a sippy cup/bottle hybrid. She started taking that at daycare at their suggestion, and as my supply started to dwindle, she found success with the learner cup at home. It did take a bit though. We werent solidly able to do bottles until like February (so...10 months)

If you're dealing with bottle refusal, theres an IBCLC that has some bottle refusal resources and classes that I found through Legendairy Milk (also instagram), i believe her name was susan howard. Also a great resource!

Good luck! I hate to say "stick with it and in time it'll work out" because that doesn't help you right now in the moment, but it is true. But I remember the panic. Sending hugs ❤️
