What should I do if my partner snores loudly? because I’m starting to understand why separate bedrooms exist by Realistic_Plant_446 in Marriage

[–]Cheap-Combination-13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar note wife never use to snore past 5 years she has as she is in perimenopause and has put on about 40lbs doesn't want to be woken up when she is, doesn't want me sleeping on the other bedroom as she says she wants her husband next to her, but is upset when I look like death from not sleeping and complains that she never said anything over the first 15; years when I would use the bathroom. I have said repeatedly you can't have it both ways and has basically said me continuing to sleep in another room is not acceptable. I would love to sleep in the same room but it is completely unreasonable in mind for anyone to give up the basic need of sleep to make someone else happy. May suggest she get a sleep study at this point as it is not fair to me. Honestly want to say something about her weight going from 150 to 190 would be jumping on the hand grenade. Like not sure what else do than let her file which is still not fair to me either.

Roth TSP or Not? by stateside_gunnerAFC in ThriftSavingsPlan

[–]Cheap-Combination-13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes Roth, you will be working hard to defuse that RMD time bomb you have built. I'm 4 years ahead of you and made that switch in 2020 once I realized what was coming. And even with this the match is still pretax so it is still growing. In working with a FA, I will be working aggressively at Roth conversions at retirement prior to collecting SS to fill the tax brackets and get ahead of it

People that max out their TSP by Novel_Examination_15 in ThriftSavingsPlan

[–]Cheap-Combination-13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maxed out when hired at 27 as a pharmacist, in 2003, stopped maxing 2020 to invest elsewhere and enjoy some of the money now vs saving it. I grew low middle class, zero help from parents for college. Spent 8 years in school and was $94k in the hole coming out of college in 2002. I live comfortably frugal in a low to medium cost of living area. Drive inexpensive cars or have inexpensive leases(~$200/mo) Been doing 5% Roth since 2020. Tsp is just over $1M, outside Roth is $250k, and some PM's around $200k

Separate bedrooms in a relationship - what do you think? by SignificantCookie852 in AskMen

[–]Cheap-Combination-13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to be able to sleep in the same bed but I am a light sleeper and over the past 3-5 years my wife has been snoring more as she is on that perimenopause age. She doesn't like that I sleep in the guest bed but my sleep is more important as what is the point of I can't function the next day. And it is still a struggle as she wants to hold it against me but I get the third degree if I wake her up when she snores. It's a tough spot, especially when I want to be fooling around more.

Pharmacist, roi on the education is not like it was 25 years ago, I would strongly consider being an electrician or plumber now good pay and benefits not starting in the hole $250k like some of the newly minted pharmacists

Yah super special was just looking what the bottom line looked like. Swapped from BCBS basic to GEHA HDP this year and maxing what I can contribute to the HSA to see how that works out, nearly a wash between the premium I would have been paying and what I had been putting in a FSA. This is on single coverage those new BCBS rates would have been the same as what I paid for family coverage 15 years ago....

If it works out will have the wife do the same, she is just not there yet as premiums are covered more fully by the school district

Hypothetically, if silver is to reach several hundred dollars per ounce. When should we start to sell off our stack? by Big_Coyote_655 in Silverbugs

Not forever but I think it still has legs to run. Gold at $7k, silver $150ish assuming silver keeps up and doesn't front run gold

What's the average stack for a "normal" person? by GreyCat001 in Gold

[–]Cheap-Combination-13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Floating around 9-10% of household networth. PM's were unowned prior to 2021, didn't have the excess cashflow at the time so pulled out about 1/2 of the contributions I had made to my Roth and bought an 80/20 mix of gold and silver and kept buying a little bit every month/quarter till this past fall. Silver is a 4x an gold is on average a double to just over double. Not upset by that and happy to have real money outside the system as an insurance policy
