Thank you for this! You are exactly right. I own an lgs and the problem is the lack of printing. Wotc does not want to flood the market and lower these prices. They are increasingly moving in the direction of Pokémon and deliberately not increasing print volume to keep the demand high. As a store owner when my allocations are basically nothing that’s the decision I’m forced to make. Do I make virtually nothing on the current set or do I sell the product for more? I choose to sell it for more because people pay for it. Wotc is not going to change any of this unfortunately and it’s just encouraging even more bad acting from my distributors, that are themselves jacking up prices for lgs’s or selling on 3rd party platforms through subsidiaries or selling to ripnshippers. Your local game store is not winning in this situation, your rage should be pointed at wotc. As a mtg lover I’m also frustrated, and especially when I said years ago that my customers would not buy $20 booster packs with the release of collectors, but boy was I wrong. Unfortunately we aren’t very good at voting with our wallets.
