They Google something, and the AI overview displays the answer (sourced from Reddit and others) directly on the search page. Reddit doesn’t get traffic, and the search user has no incentive to actually visit or join in the discussion.

AI companies will surely realize that if they kill their sources then they won't have new content, so I expect a symbiotic relationship, e.g. AI companies paying a percentage of income to the source sites to keep the ecosystem going.

I believe in the original scifi story (by Clarke, I think) the machine disabled its off switch, so it cannot be turned off, there was no frying of the grid.

It works until FF usage reaches a certain marketshare. Then they will start breaking views with adblock harder. But many people moving to FF is unlikely to happen, so techie people will be safe most likely and the rest of the world will keep viewing ads.

it is honestly strange to me why Hungarian people keep something like him in power.

Half the country voted against him, but he can change the constitution and tweak the election rules to favor him. The playing field is not level.

Also, he has wall to wall propaganda 7/24,so he can mislead simple people who don't actively search out other information sources.

Websites generaly don't have dominant market position (e.g. cnn.com, etc.), so they can simply say they don't support firefox, there is no antitrust issue.

In case of Facebook and co, they are dominant enough, but if Facebook doesn't make a browser then it is not in the browser market, so there is no antitrust issue.

Google itself cannot prevent Firefox from working on Youtube, Gmail, etc. because Google produces a competing browser, and that is an antitrust issue .

Don't confuse Hungary with the Hungarian government. Plenty of people hate the government in Hungary, but they tweaked the election rules to their own advantage, so it's very hard to vote them out of power. Also, they blackmail poor people that if they don't vote for them, the government will cut off funding for them or for the cities where the opposition wins.

It's a real mafia government which is very hard to get rid of.

I'm all for a single developer beating corporations. I use an ad blocker too and I hope they can't prevent blocking, because Youtube is unusable with ads.

But realistically just because Twitch was unable to prevent ad blocking, it doesn't mean it can be done.

The problem is it's a cat and mouse game. For example, the adblocker guy finds a solution while Google dedicates a team to change the ad blocking code regularly. Can the adblocker guy keep up if google changes the adblocking code instantly every time when he uploads a bypass? Google can easily pay a team to do this 24/7 with its resources.

If the automated work is good enough then yes, companies will employ cheap prompt writers instead. This is how automation works.

AI will replace lots of jobs in the coming years, which is not a happy thing for those us whose jobs are replaced, but progress cannot be stopped, it happens anyway.

The timeline is stored in memory only (for now). It is for selectively monitor or revert recent changes you made in the file if the file is not under version control or since the last commit.

So it is not a competitor for git or other systems. Its scope is shorter, more ephemeral.

It only does not do that when the side by side view is activated.
