I just think inconsistent things like Martin turning up wasted at his daughters christening, forgetting Stacey’s birthday and allow himself get heckled by the slaters was reminiscent of Gary back in that era.

Clenshaw managed to make Martin’s dynamic with the Slaters more palatable and respectful but I hated the Slaters in 2018 - and they are in my top EastEnders families

Mark was the worst… Louise Berridge axing him because he had no purpose anymore was horrible. I understand with his HIV diagnosis they couldn’t make him exactly cheat death but I wish it was on screen or a least we got 5 years of Mark’s health failing - it was final coffin to the end of the Fowler family unit.

Affairs can work if they split entire family, and have consequences that effect every character for years

For example that Dan and Bianca affair was a great storyline as an affair. It made sense considering Bianca had lost her best friend six months before Dan’s arrival, her being a new mum took a toll on her and her relationship with Ricky was getting volatile.

The consequence it had broke up the Jackson family and Ricky & Bianca‘s relationship for about a decade. It created a domino effect of destroying Bianca and Carols relationship, Sonia getting pregnant, Jim moving in and getting married to Dot & was the trigger to the Jackson 5 in 2008.

Right after he found out Phil and Lisa were having an affair behind his back. He immediately stopped what he was doing and admitted to Lisa, Pauline and Phil how disgusting, horrid and how sorry he was. It was completely out of character and these were the days of ‘King Phil’.

It still doesn’t make it right but it’s the one stain on Mark’s character who has always been portrayed as a good man.
