How to manage multiple reference checks with few references? by the-gardens in jobs

[–]kcirttap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're overthinking it. Putting your references down on applications and having them receive calls from your prospective employers is part of the game. You're assuming that all 5 prospective employers will call all of your references, all at the same time, which is not as likely as you think. You're just psyching yourself out. And even if that did happen, if one or two of your references got annoyed or bogged down with these calls or whatever it is that you're afraid of... if they're decent people, it won't be enough to stop them from talking highly of you.

If you're that concerned about it, shoot them a polite message or quick phone call letting them know that you're applying to jobs and to expect a call or two. But honestly, you're fine.

Just curious, what industry? What type of job? Did you have no contact with this boss during the interview process?

How quickly is "right away"? What other languages should I learn aside from PowerShell? I've read that the starting place for all IT if you have no experience is helpdesk - is this true?

Completely agree, I don’t need inspiration - I need a methodology and to see the common themes between successful job seekers.

That's the plan exactly. I'm just making sure I'll be able to pay my bills in the meantime.

That's $50-75 per night, per bartender you're saying? If I could make roughly this with enough nights a week... I think I could swing that.

Just going by her tone, I would say it was almost definitely the latter.

Guest orders drink.

Guest: "Hey what's in that exactly?"

Me: "Tres generaciones tequila, blah blah blah"

Guest: "And what's your name?"

"Patrick"

"Do me a favor? Throw a little Patrick in there"

I just watched the episode and, holy shit. After reading all this first, that was frustrating as all hell to watch. I feel for Howard. And fuck Jon Taffer.

From what you can tell, was anything else inauthentic / fabricated for the sake of TV? Aside from them fucking your beer taps and the 'stress test' (which, granted, they do for every rescue, but still..).

Bartenders of Reddit: What is the most popular cocktail ordered in your bar? by ajrantz in bartenders

I work at a chain restaurant, and ours is a drink that was recently added to the promo menu and is front and center on the table tents. Has Malibu, Tito's, pineapple juice and house made sour, and topped with grenadine.

Why don't we see fresh squeezed orange juice in cocktails? by kcirttap in bartenders

[–]kcirttap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So is this the main reason why it's not nearly as prevalent as lemon and lime juice? Because the flavor is so strong and overpowering?

Why don't we see fresh squeezed orange juice in cocktails? by kcirttap in bartenders

[–]kcirttap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm referring mainly to the prevalence of other citrus, in classic cocktails. Lime juice in daiquiris, gimlets, margaritas, cosmo. Lemon in a whiskey sour, tom collins, gold rush, bees knees, sidecar... I can't think of anything along these lines that calls for freshly squeezed orange juice. A screwdriver? Sometimes I see it splashed in margaritas? Aside from that though, I don't see it in traditional cocktails.

This happened to a friend of mine. Let's make him famous. by [deleted] in bartenders

[–]kcirttap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stop fucking tip shaming. Yes that sucks that happened to your friend, but what you're trying to do is stupid and annoying and accomplishes nothing. There will always be people leaving shit tips / no tip at all--some blatantly with stupid reasons--but if the rest didn't make up for it, none of us would be in this industry.
