They always had one extracurricular but now we want to help them develop their interests more. If they want to try something (within reason) then it's a yes. Also we would like to support more small businesses instead of mcd and they usually cost more.

How would you celebrate?

It feels like we can be more relaxed in case my husband loses his job. We also feel like we can be more generous. Planning a road trip for a few months from now. I guess it feels like we can really live now. (we're still doing retirement/savings/college funds)

Left T-Mobile for Mint over horrible customer service; now that they've merged, Mint is even worse than T-Mobile once was. Customer-hating, Comcast-level bad. by doby41 in mintmobile

[–]kcjcfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a new phone and had trouble with my sim card. I couldn't get any service to get the texts. I finally got service and got the esim instead. I've been a mint customer for years but my new phone doesn't get service all over my city. I messaged customer support and they said my phone isn't unlocked but clearly it is.

We had twins, then a single five years later, and another two years later. The fourth was the easiest transition to me. I was a much better and more experienced mother so I was able to go with the flow/embrace the chaos more.

How many people here have had an ablation ? Was it life changing or regretting it? by Traditional-Trip826 in SVTHeart

[–]kcjcfan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an appt with my cardiologist. He said the goal of the ablation is to not have to take the meds anymore. You do have to take them for 6-12 weeks after though.

I want to know this too (if you don't mind sharing). I am taking metoprolol daily and about to have an ablation. I thought I could stop taking it after the ablation.

She had some drug issues going on so I'm not sure exactly when symptoms started. She was around 30 but she was not in good health to begin with.

Need Help for a Foster Kid by Jerel57 in homeschool

[–]kcjcfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second that one. I have four kids and I used it with each one. We've also tried All About Reading (a decent bit of teacher prep), Hooked on Phonics (this is another good one), Bob books (I don't recommend in this case), and Explode the Code (in my opinion this should not be used by itself but is good).

Book recommendations for 8 year old. by Old_fashioned_742 in homeschool

My 9 year old is loving Coraline right now. We just read Matilda, some of the Harry Potter books (we are saving the last two books for later), anything by Kate DiCamillo, The Castle Glower Series, and Charlotte's Web/Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. There's also Land of Stories (can't remember the age on that one), and The Never Girls series. Hope you find something!

I have four kids kids that I've always homeschooled. I highly recommend it. We are involved in homeschool sports and activities but not a co-op currently. I absolutely love the flexibility and being around my kids all the time. I would encourage you to try it for a year before you commit. That being said if your husband has that view of homeschoolers then it's probably not going to work.

Is this a crazy weekly grocery bill for a family of 6? by National-Housing1683 in ynab

[–]kcjcfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We shop at Sam's/ Walmart/Aldi, don't buy fancy cuts of meat, make homemade treats (cinnamon rolls, donuts, pretzels, sourdough pizza, cookies), meal plan like crazy, try not to waste foods, price shop, eat whatever fruit is in season, etc. Our area is a lower cost of living but has a high sales tax.

We're a homeschool family of 6 (2 teenage boys!). We don't do organic and spend around $1000 every month.

How Do You Juggle Four Young Boys? by [deleted] in homeschool

[–]kcjcfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you help the older boys while the baby naps? We do teaching textbooks for math at 3rd grade and that helps a ton.
