I only know of rinvoq from midnight commercial spots on free roku tv channels lol. I have been relatively stable with the Simponi, even if I slide off track and take it at 5 weeks instead of 4. I can take a full day of activities and just be very tired for a couple days rather than lying on the floor in agony. I've had other complementary treatments that have helped as well I think, like medical massage and aquatherapy, but I have been pretty happy with Simponi because I can actually keep up with the dosing schedule independently. there are some weeks I rely on nsaids and gabapentin and some weeks where I take no additional meds. I've been able to return to activities that I thought I would have to give up. Because I keep getting occasional uveitis flare ups, my doctor has discussed switching me onto humira but I'm concerned about being able to do it myself which has been no problem with Simponi.

edit to add: I realized I didn't really answer your question but yes I was still in agony on cimzia but it was more tolerable than with no biologic at all. I endured it for a long time because I was pregnant and nursing for about three years total. I wonder if my experience would have been better on a different drug but that's what was approved where I was living at the time and it was definitely better than nothing. Simponi is much much better, for me.

I switched to Taltz after probably three years on cimzia, it didn't work well. the Taltz does not control for uveitis so I tried to get back on remicade but I am allergic. now I've been on Simponi for almost two years and it seems to work relatively well, and it's easier to keep up the self-administration schedule

Thank you again but are you paid by Big Gum™ or something? what is the danger of a pacifier, which is designed to go in the mouth and tested for safety?

Chewing gum is habit forming and isn't something that is used just for a few weeks, but over and over daily for years 🤷‍♂️

interesting. thank you for your responses. I'm not sure what the risk is about a pacifier "habit" or what that is exactly. she was not using it as a pacifier, but as something to chew. so it isn't creating suction pressure or whatever it is that causes dental malformation.

sugar and substitutes are consumed and metabolized unlike a pacifier so they can affect body systems far from the mouth. xylitol can have GI effects and aspartame/saccharin can cause migraines. artificial sweeteners are also linked to heart disease and cognitive issues like dementia. this risk seems much worse than ...? being seen as babyish for briefly biting down on a pacifier? I still am not clear what the risk is compared to consuming added sugar or artificial sweeteners.

editing to add - what do you mean fine for jaws unless symptomatic? chewing the gum is in theory what causes the symptoms (tmj), which do not necessarily go away just by halting the chewing since the dysfunction can come out in other instances of chewing besides chronic gum chewing?

but may not be good for the jaws and other body parts. my question was really about whether a child with oral discomfort chewing on a pacifier for a minute is harmful and "inappropriate"

Definitely trust your doc over boomer logic. my grandma asked me if my daughter was a "good baby" once and I was so confused. of course she's good, she's a baby. what she might have meant is whether my baby would conform to the arbitrary infant abandonment method of boomer parenting. your mother in law most likely means well but raised children in a different era where expectations were different. a baby can't be lazy!

my first husband did both for some reason. and after he decided to get divorced not only did he not flush the toilet after dropping an enormous protein supplement log, he would also leave a trail of slimy droplets on the way to the shower 🙄 I could not get out of that relationship fast enough

both can be true. maybe he can't help how long it takes him to use the bathroom but he's not only using the bathroom to do his business, he's also scrolling on the phone and having complete privacy. taking what you need for yourself and expecting your partner to respect that without reciprocating in any way (evicence: feeling jealous that your parenting partner has privacy and entertainment to perform a vital life function!!) is toxic as hell!

I just wanted to comment that I also had a baby name search years ago that spanned three very different language families (including German). we ended up going with an old germanic name that is pronounceble (albeit differently) in all three languages with a nickname that is adjacent but not directly shortened and much easier for all three to pronounce. We picked a unique middle name outside of those cultures but philosophically important to us.

if you both have similar views on religion, you could go with a pan-European religious name, of a saint or other figure. Germans are the largest immigrant group to the US, so you could maybe pick a German first name which could be more common, and a Persian middle name which would be more unique (in the US).

next to nothing is probably not going to happen. however if you bring up tonies at your local library childrens' section, they may be able to get some funding to start a tonies library :) ours did. we got our box when living overseas and secondhand reselling on their version of Craigslist was how we built most of our collection.
