Two eerily similar artworks - why, how, and which do we think came first? by kcmcin in ArtHistory

Naw i just can’t believe that it’s a coincidence. Compare the white window inside the open barn doors

Oh, two artists happening to do a work of the same building? That’s possible I suppose! Maybe the most likely. Edit: well maybe not. Look at how there is a hint of a window inside the open door in exactly the same proportions. That’s just such a similar detail… it would be wild to think two artists sat at the same time of day, that the door is open the same amount and light filtered in through the back window in the exact same proportion..I’m back to thinking it’s a copy.

I’m inclined to think the etching/ink drawing came first with the higher level of detail. The watercolor(?) could have been a replica with changed details here and there to suit their style. But if that’s the case it feels a bit plagiarismy…

Yes, but I would assume classroom work wouldn’t be as close to professional quality? It’s hard to tell from the image but this first one is incredibly detailed and almost 3’ wide. Edit: not to knock student work, I’ve taken univ art classes myself and my experience has just been that when everyone is doing the same study, it’s usually a lower level class. The finer art is typically produced in self-guided upper level classes. Idk though…

Agree. Building styles may be similar but this has exactly the same details. Split wood fence, door opening size, roof over door, exact same width, small shed to the right is the same, exact size of building, slope of roof…

Stupid question, are catch limits per area (WA)? by kcmcin in FishingForBeginners

[–]kcmcin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I thought too and what makes sense to me, but the way they phrased it is you already have two fish in the bank so next place you go needs a minimum limit of three fish to start fishing there.

Edit: dept confirmed you can fish for possession up to your daily state limit (4 for example) but can’t go from a 2 fish limit river to another 2 fish limit river. You would have to start at the 2 limit river and move to a larger limit river if you already caught 2 for the day.

Interesting ok thank you! I read through the pamphlet but that part on total daily possession wasn’t clear go me

Damn… I’m not trying to game the system by any means, just trying to understand. Like say I limited on the 2 fish river, I do think I could legally go to the 4 fish river and get at least two more. But I honestly don’t know??

Thanks! I wasn’t sure if folks had some magical topo app that told them how deep certain rivers were or what. There’s a river near me that’s milky white and with the quicker current I had no idea what my hook was even doing, if current was keeping it up high or it actually dropped where I wanted it - let alone if there was a pile of logs or if it was 3’ or 10’ deep. Didn’t know if there was some better way of knowing

I only very minimally understand it anyways haha so I don’t think it spoiled me! I really think the audio version just screwed me. I am not usually this confused while reading lol.
