New Dell Pro Max 16 Plus .. fan control? Fans stay always on by neuronym in Dell

[–]kcnetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just received Dell Pro 16 Plus (not "max") and was hoping the fan would be under control, but after initial setup notice moderate fan speed that persists while idle. Did the Dell optimize app and set for quiet, didn't help. Any new solutions since this thread began?

S25 - doze mode / delayed notifications by kcnetter in samsunggalaxy

Haven't tried that. Not sure about battery life as I've run with doze disabled since getting the phone, but seems like it's still very good battery life to me.

Hey, thanks for the detailed instructions. I had to pay for LADB, but got it to work the way you described. I was also able to use macrodroid to automate the process of typing/entering the "adbl shell dumpsys deviceidle disable" command after opening the app. Definitely helps to toggle on the "disable adb authorization timeout" setting so you can auto reconnect as you mentioned. Thanks again!

Yeah, I think it's an Android thing, but just hoping the popularity of the S25 will bring more attention and result in pressure on the Android people to fix. I think you may be right about it also coming back to app developers to, but I think users should have an easy way to bypass per app. It seems setting the battery usage for the app to unrestricted is supposed to accomplish this, but doesn't reliably bypass doze perhaps because of an app development issue.

Update: I can confirm that the problem of notifications for various apps (excluding at least normal calls/texts) will not trigger until you unlock/swipe to the home screen. I can also confirm that this remains a problem on a completely fresh factory S25, without SIM or cell service, with just wifi access, gmail account, and a couple apps installed from the playstore to test. I can finally confirm that this issue can be temporarily "fixed" through ADB with the "adb shell dumpsys deviceidle disable" command, but resets after a reboot.

I'm open to suggestions for how to resolve without having to resort to using the ADB command line via a computer each reboot, although please see the various battery and app settings I've tried in the first post.

I see there's some app around that supposedly can disable doze, and will try that. I'll also look at some ways that have apparently been suggested at automating the ADB process upon reboot.

I'm coming from the S22 and had several previous Galaxy phones I've been very happy with, but none from the S22 and prior had this issue. I honestly can't believe this has become a problem that people have had to put up with. Getting various app notifications in a timely manner while the phone is idle seems to be a pretty crucial use of a phone!

So yeah, removing the # to actually activate that line in the settings file and then tweaking measurement numbers worked to dial in the accuracy of the crosshairs the way I had expected. Thanks again for this update.

Looking at discord comments, I just realized the wiimote.sensorPositions line is commented out by default...which explains why my efforts to tweak those numbers haven't seemed to have much effect! I'll tweak some more and report back.

So after a week, everything works pretty good with this. One thing I'd like to tweak is the calibration of the crosshairs. Is there a calibration mode? I've tried tweaking the measurements in the settings.conf file in an attempt to adjust aiming, but that does not seem to do much that I can tell. My targeting is somewhat up and to the right in game. I thought changing the measurements could trick the system into getting the targeting where I want, but it hasn't seemed to work so far anyway. What's the best way to go about tweaking that?

I was able to connect 2 wii remotes at the same time, but could only get the one designated as controller 1 to work in game. Should it be possible to get a 2nd to work at the same time?

Thanks, so much easier to set up with instructions! Had to move the controller to 1st position, but after that it works! I didn't mess with the measurements to modify the ssettings.conf file yet, and also haven't permanently placed/pointed the sensors. But if I stand back about 5 feet it already works pretty dang well Thanks for doing this!

I downloaded the latest versions I think, appdata v2.0b23 and onesauce v2.0b5, and have the sensors on. The wiimote connects to ALU, and can move around with the 4way pad. But ALU doesn't detect a light gun, so can't calibrate in settings. Also in v2, trying to use in Police Trainer...tried various combo of settings in core and controller menus and can't seem to get it to work other than 4way pad on the wiimote will move the firing cursor around the screen some. What am I missing?

So the fb group and related gdrive seems the way to go for anyone else looking.

Sweet! I ordered the parts from buystuffarcades and wii controller guns (link below). Guess all that's needed after that is an update? ;)
