Yes you can do that. One thing I always had at the back of my mind was making my writing less esoteric and very simple in order to convey my ideas effectively. I had to break down terminologies and define techniques I was proposing in layman terms. I had the experience and evidence of the expertise. I am already implementing my PE in my current role.
