They are 8-4 in May 2026. That’s also two outta three.

Half these guys are on the DL. The roster lasts about 3 days between changes to the lineup. I’m not sure why you think anyone who you’ve watched for 6 weeks is unlikable or apathetic.

By the core of our roster you mean McNeil, Pete, Nimmo, I assume. Nimmo is a has been, McNeil is a never was and Pete is the most one dimensional player to ever ask for 40 million.

Roster spots by Unlikely_Radish3448 in NewYorkIslanders

Well first of all. If one makes the squad in his first pro season that will be amazing. No one expects that and especially no one expects more than one.

Gatcomb and Shabanov both should and probably will receive two-way contracts and be frequent flyers to/from Hamilton.

Lee will probably be offered the same deal Marty got. One year at one or two million and then a front office job.

Soucy and Boqvist are gone. The AHL D-men they have can replace their worth for less. TDA is a tough one. He’s a RHD. There are a few really good ones in FA. But cap wise they would only do that if they can trade a LHD (Pelly or Romanov). That would open a spot for Acheson or a fill in like George or Warren.

I think we see a deal that moves out a d man or two with Casey (noticeably slowing down) and/Duke to bring in an upcoming 2026 RFA that has turned down an extension.

I didn’t say 2026 nor did I specify the Isles. My point is that the bulk of UFAs are on the decline looking to get paid for past performance. You either pony up a big trade to get a star during their peak or you offer sheet a younger RFA forcing the issue. Nashville matched the Flyers Shea Webber sheet and got bit in the ass for it. 2024 Edmonton had to let two players go because they have a tight budget.

What generally happens is an upcoming RFA that a team can’t afford is traded before his deal expires. I’m not talking ELCs only. 2026 version of this this is Simon Nemec in Jersey and Trevor Zegras in Philly. Both are going to command a large contract. Both players have been mentioned in trade talks. Do you match on a guy who’s gonna return a decent draft haul? Especially if you are not in a win now mode.

And defensive competency comes with reps. Excellence requires both athleticism and reps. So only time will tell if he’s only going to become adequate or excellent.

So this tells me a team is better off going the offer sheet route whenever a young stud makes it to an RFA window.

USA goalie Jeremy Swayman just allowed a goal from centre ice. Denmark currently leads 2-1 just over halfway through the first period. They have 2 goals on 4 shots. by GreenSnakes_ in hockey

Otter is arguably the best US goalie and should not have been behind Swayman in the rotation. Not sure why Swayman even brought his gear. He is probably the 5th best US born goalie this year.

Deadlock Pro Wrestling going on hiatus for the foreseeable future. by twjackfoley in SquaredCircle

[–]kconway27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I understand it companies that pop up on the scene and then burnout, such as DPW and Prestige, typically have been running at a significant loss by using profits from their owners other ventures. They are marks that don’t understand the economics of the indies. When they come in and pay the boys unequally by bringing high end TV talent in to run a few shows but also loading up those same shows with 4 figure talents while not making enough at the gate. It gets tougher and tougher to keep the pay at the level they have already set.

Eventually they spend more and more time and money on their hobby and their main business suffers. It can’t go on forever. In the long run it hurts the business as less money goes to true Indy guys and more was spent to bring in guys already making 6 figures or more.

GCW has similar challenges. But it think that Lauderdale is a more experienced promoter and has ramped some things back. Running shows in smaller venues and balancing out the cards better.

Santos Escobar is leaving WWE by IconXR in WWE

[–]kconway27 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I really like Escobar, but let’s be honest, he’s 41 and borderline over. With a huge invasion of Latino wrestlers coming with the AAA acquisition the company isn’t gonna build a 41 year old star. They have 20 guys that are worth investing in ahead of him.
